  • Spent today moving furniture to get it out of the way of the builders. I just hope I've burned off the extra calories in this evening's unplanned-for four glasses of wine! I enjoyed them, though...
If we are supposed to be thin, why does chocolate exist?

Your food looks fine to me - ok it's maybe not strictly 'diet' food but it's hardly unhealthy either. Sometimes I find that I'm hungry no matter what I eat (particularly right before TOTM, but also at busy other times) which is why I would never try Paul McKenna's idea of eating when hungry and stopping when full! If I followed that I would constantly be eating every 10mins and probably put on a lot of weight :p I understand that everyone is different though so if it has worked for you in the past then you must be doing something right :) I find having some nice, filling HM soup in the fridge is really helpful for those days when I just want to eat eat eat, maybe try that?

Thanks! Well , he says eat what you want, not what you think you should. It is a nerve wracking start but once i see it working it will be fine , fingers crossed! I know, most people assume they will eat too much but he teaches 4 rules , and if you follow those , you should maintain healthy diet.
Rules - 1) eat what you want , not what you think you should, 2) eat consciously - chew each mouthful for 20 chews :o, 3) Eat when you're hungry (i am a comfort eater - when i got made redundant, i turned to food too!) 4) Stop when you're full. I find it really helps me tune into what I am actually eating - normally i would have eat the whole club sandwich in one go but i had half with chips and was stuffed, so stopped eating. )

Plus, im getting work done so the house is an upside down tip. Took soup out earlier for tomorrow so should be more structured then :)

    Todays report

B - Banana, 200g mixed fruit (fresh pineapple, blueberries and cherries) one coffee
20g clustery fruit type cereal with SS milk

    S - banana

L - *meal out* small chip & club sandwich on granary - bacon lettuce tomato and chicken - eaten in two halfs a few hours apart!
    Lattee

D - Toasted hot cross bun with a nugget of cheese - about 10 g! Cup of decaf tea

S - Using my new juicing machine - juice from 3 apples :D

    E - pilates toning routine

Newlywed - Been there done that. When i found out i was being made redundant, i am pretty sure i posted in this thread saying there was no way i was going to put on weight by the time I was redundant. Well, I have - i wish someone had shook the living daylights out of me as I have no confidence to go job hunting feeling so out of shape !:o I know it is tough - but try to get on top of the eating thing - you need to be in tip top shape and confident :) xxxxxxx

Yesterday's exercise - didnt do the gardening, but did walk into town instead (7 mile round trip).

Otherwise stuck to the plan - until DH came home that is :(. He works in a college that has a catering department, so he brought home some apple pie. I was tempted and gave in. Not only that, I washed it down with a nice glass of red wine!

Not an auspicious start, and I only have 4 months till I go to Italy.

So, better hopes for today (DH isnt coming home this evening):

Breakfast: muesli (2oz/50g) with milk (semi skimmed 1/4 pint) and handful of nuts (1oz/25g)
Lunch and dinner: 2oz mince; peas, carrots, onion, oxo cube, rice.

    Drinks: water

NO snacks, NO apple pie (!), NO red wine!!!

newlywed - poor you, what a worry. I do understand having spent last year with OH's threat of redundancy (he escaped fortunately) but also realising our debts were out of control and starting a debt management plan. I think at one point we realised we could lose the house and everything whether he lost his job or not lol. Funnily enough that's when the stress lifted a bit - facing losing everything almost felt a bit liberating. That might sound a bit daft but if you have a think about what the worst case scenario with your finances would be you may find that it wouldn't be the end of the world. In our case worst thing that could happen was OH going bankrupt, being made redundant, losing the house and having to rent and claim benefits for a while. After a bit I was almost looking forward to it - lots of nice places to rent round here and freedom from a mortgage. There's always an upside ;)

Yesterday went to plan mostly apart from OH returning from a milk run with some reduced salsa and doritos. So had some of those. Today I am unsure of dinner again.

    B: Shape yoghurt (75)
    S: apple

L: quorn-ham and pickle sandwhich on granary bread (300)
    S: options hot choc (75)

    D: beans on toast? (500)

D - quorn aweet and sour with rice. Yoghurt.

I'll try and have some fruit too.

Happy thurday to all and congratulations Raspberry on your loss :-)

Zippy - looking at your food the day you thought you had worms you didn't eat much of anything, especially protein and fat until the evening, so I think your hunger was your body trying to "catch up" on the nutrients it needed. The trainer who did my induction recommened spreading protein foods through the day ie have yog/milk as snacks and fish/meat/beans with lunch plus not to go too low on fat as this can start of uncontrollable hunger.

Oh and do you have a recipe for the chilli jam please?

I do find this helps me - though it all goes to chaos on a bad day.

    Food plan today:

    bran and yog
    orange
    beans salad
    yog
    barley and mushroom rissotto.

hope you all stay on plan.
  • Morning all. Just catching up on the thread with a cup of green jasmine tea before getting stuck into some work. I can already feel that today is going to be one of those constantly hungry days so will have to try my hardest to feed the hunger with green tea and nothing else until lunch time at 1pm :o

Zippy - Thanks for providing more info on the Paul McKenna method - I'm really intruiged by it as it seems way too good to be true! Funnily enough he was promoting his new book/dvd on radio 1 this morning, I might have a browse through next time I'm near a book shop. Please keep us updated on how you get on using his method though :)

Yesterday was another OK day for me (neither great nor disastrous..story of my life!) Three quality street chocs were consumed with my evening cup of tea (still working through the xmas supplies ) and I had a couple of handfuls of dried fruit too. Hardly the end of the world, but must try harder during the week and only allow myself these treats at the weekend. Today's plan looks like:

B: Porridge made with water, half banana, spoonful jam stirred through
L: HM bulghar wheat salad, mullerlight yog, banana
    Snack: Apple
    D: Butternut squash risotto
    Snack: Sugar free jelly

    Exercise: 5K run + 5K cycle + 200 sit-ups

Hope everyone has a good day :)

That's the trouble, been off work for a couple of months sick and with that kind of return to work, I have no confidence left anyway :o

Well there were two teacakes last night with choc spread, as well as my dinner :o

    Today:
b: just right cereal and oat milk
s: packet of crisps and a couple (ok 4) value shortbread fingers
    l: chicken rice (uncle bens)
d: chicken breast wrapped in bacon with potatoes and veg.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • I'm doing much better on the meal front today.

B: Had time for the usual bowl of cereal this morning
S: yoghurt - I've started taking a pack of yoghurts to work at the start of the week. It's much better than buying a scone, or worse, a bacon roll every day!
    L: HM chicken sandwich
    D: HM lentil soup

May have another snack in the evening if I'm still hungry when I get home from training but other than that not a bad food day. :)
