Hi not sure how far your work is, but could you drive the car part way to work with the bike in it and then cycle to work and back to car until you are a bit fitter?

That's a great idea, I usually take the bus because parking is so limited and expensive, but I'll have a think about that.

Work is about 4 miles away, I can do it, but tend to get very overheated. :o

.My big downfall is when i get in from work, before i start to cook. I need something quick and not too filling - does anyone have any suggestions?

Do you have a slow cooker or a oven with a timer?

I love my slow cooker and there is a thread on these boards about 'whats in my slow cooker today' for ideas.

But a timer oven is great for jacket spuds, bung it in & set oven before you leave for work when you get home Bing! time to mix tuna or beans or coleslaw etc and serve up.

Also any casserole or stew can be preset to ready as you get home.

Also things like fish that you wrap up in herbs and foil and leave in the fridge can be put in the oven as you get home (before you take your coat and shoes off) and then by the time your sorted out its time to put the veg on.

Stir fry is the ultimate quick food

Curry, prepare and then it can heat as you cook the rice

    Omelettes

    Mince & anything

Pasta with tinned tomatoes, herbs and bacon

    Meatballs again prepare

Too make it not too filling just do a small portion, or cook a lot once and then divide into portions and freeze, these can then by reheated for quick main meals.

Hya folks, lots of interesting talk about binging here. I never really thought of myself as being much of a binger, but lately....!! :o

This week especially has been pretty bad...I don't know how many of these mini-mars bars (or rather own brand from Mr T or L) I have munched down. We have them in as DS2 takes them when he is hypo (TypeI diabetic) .....I should really put them away in his room or something as sitting in the cupboard (top shelf so I need to use the step to reach!!), is still too tempting. Mind you, there are days/weeks when I have no interest in them at all.

All this over-eating has taken its toll, WI this morning - and I have put back on 4 pounds... So today I am steering clear of the food in the cupboards...except for lunch, though that is some soup I made this week with lots of different veg, including the last of the squash I got from my organic veg box at Christmas.

I was going to go shopping this morning, but it is pourng down at the moment. I will do some exercises indoors instead, then sew up the shoulders of the cardigan I am knitting myself. It is a pretty one, for summer really. It is a bit too small for me atm, but will be my incentive to shed more pounds in the months to come.

    Food for today:

B: Porridge, soya milk & raisins; OJ
    S: Satsuma
D: HM Veg Soup & bread
    S: Banana
T: Oven baked fish and chips - HM with veg
S: Slice of HM Xmas Cake
    (fat-free & low-sugar)

Right off to stretch those muscles...have a good weekend everyone.

    Hi everyone,

I haven't posted on this thread for a few weeks now :o

Binger.....that's me; I not only binge but my meals are much too big. When DH & me first got married nearly 16 years ago I couldn't eat the same amount as him......I can now though :(

I lost 3lbs 3wks ago and have stayed the same for the last 2wks which is a miracle really as last Friday for instance we had Subway (meatball marinara :p) for lunch....then at dinner time we had a chinese :o

I'm taking Omeprazole capsules for oesophagitus (sp), I've been on them for a year and they make my stomach grumble & feel constantly empty. The consultant said this is quite common.....but I have definitely put on weight as I am eating more.

Anyway, enough rambling....have a great weekend everyone

    Hi

I have read this thread for ages and say I'm going to join and then lose my way. Well, enough!

I am going to weigh in tomorrow morning and make a real effort to report back each week, even if I can't always keep up with the thread.

I have 5 stones to lose and that is what binging can do if it is not checked.

I have never admitted this to anyone, but almost daily binging over the last few years has seen my weight increase by 5 stone.

I used to binge because I was stressed, but because I did it for so long, it has become a horrible habit that leaves me feeling so worthless and sends me back to food for comfort.

I bordered on anorexia in my early 20's and I just sort of dealt with it myself, obviously not very well.

I eat really well during the day, then after my DD's have gone to bed, I eat all the crap I can get my hands on (bulimia without the throwing up:o).

I cook from scratch and we eat really good meals as a family but the foods I binge on are bought biscuits and other rubbish. I am going to try and beat this habit by allowing a really nice 'treat' at my danger time (like a piece of homemade cake etc), so that I replace the binging with a controlled treat and then look at eliminating that if need be at a later date.

That's the idea anyway. It's nice to know I'm not alone.

Donna, you could be writing about me....I eat healthily when the kids are around.......when they're out I think I turn into Pac Man :EasterBun
or some sort of crisp monster.

I need to lose about 6 stone as I've gone up to over 16 st.....I'd be happy at 10 or 11 stone :o

Ooh, I am on Omeprazole too, since last March! Had pancreatitis first, then gastric colic, then stomach ulcers (mainly caused by medication taken for severe back pain). Maybe that is why I feel really empty at times, despite having pigged out!! Hmmmm will go back and read the info sheet with the capsules...will be a bit cross if that is what is "encouraging" me to binge!! What with that and the new coil I had fitted two months ago, everything is against me at the moment eating-wise!

Well it is nice to have an excuse, but it is up to me to stop stuffing my face with food. At least recognizing that the medication could be affecting my eating habits will make me think twice and perhaps be able curb the binging.

I must be strong, I must be strong, I must be strong, I must be strong.....:)

  • Good morning all, welcome Jacey and Donna :-)

I feel in great company here - as Donna says we are not alone. We admit that our excess weight has come from the food we eat, not an evil fairy sprinkling our bodies with fat as we sleep. I trying to think positively -I want to BE Free - free from Binge Eating and count the days I avoid the toad as Frogga puts it.

Made this last night and really enjoyed it - plus have frozen the rest for easy meals next week.

    Easy Thai Vegetable Curry

    Serving Size : 4!
    1/4 cup water
    2 teaspoons garlic puree
    1/2 teaspoon groud ginger
    450g mixed veg
    250g green beans
    1 cup TVP Chunks
    2 cups vegetable stock
    3/4 cup milk
    2 teaspoons chilli powder
    1 tablespoon soy sauce
    1/4 cup water
    1 tablespoon Cornflour

Put 1/4 cup water, garlic, and ginger in wok heat over until water starts to boil. Add veg and cover. Cook until vegetables thawed and warm, about 6-8 minutes.
While vegetables are cooking, place TVP chunks into a microwavable container along with 2 cups vegetable stock. Cook on high power until chunks rehydrated, about 3 minutes (stir after every minute).! ]
Add milk , chilli powder, TVP and its cooking liquid, and soy sauce to the vegetables. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes.
Mix 1/4 cup water and cornstarch. Add to vegetables and stir until heated through and slightly thickened.

    Plan today is :
    oats
    natural yog and apple
    HM soup
    more yoghurt
    barley and mushroom risotto.

    Good Luck to all.
