It would have been rude not to OBNW!!Well done on the bargain finding thought! I'm muchos impressed!!! OOoo I wish they had the scan your own thing at my sainsburys... would be fab!! I'm getting there on the grocery shop.. but still not as frugal as I could be... my problem with meal planning is something 'just comes up' and I end up eating at someone elses or feeding someone.... (I prefer the eating at someone elses
)... but I'll get there!
Nats - Sorting the accounts - I had to!!! I began to realise how confusing this is all making it, and the more simple I can get it - the more I will be able to save money in places I reckon!
For now though I am keeping food shopping money and petrol in an account as I only shop fortnightly - and will take card with me then. I also put in petrol when I need it, am still working out just how much that is each week on average. The good thing is this is an area where I feel comfortable as I've not been abusing it!!
Thanks Retro - although some of the work stuff I could quite happily avoid!!
Today I have;
1) Called Landlord - which was a standing order... have set up direct debit from the 'new' account (well its not new - but is new for bill paying!!)
2) Called mobile company - changed that direct debit to 'new' account.
3) Tried calling 4 times for gas & elec supplier - constantly engaged...
4) Called old gas supplier when I received final bill to ensure they are reimbursing me the £17 I had in credit!! and :T they are!! (nice little suprise and pays for a birthday present!)
5) Withdrew £40 - this is for 1 x more birthday present, 3 x cards, pay for cheap pub meal with girl at work for 'baby shower'... (not quite sure when we all moved to the USA??)... and entertainment - including a bottle of grape juicewith friend tomorrow night ...MMMmmm
Right - its late and i need to pop into other diaries... so much for an early night

Hi Emms!!! :hello:
How are ye? Looks like you've been busy since I've been away - as always!!
How you feeling? Sorry you were feeling a bit down - I can totally sympathise! It must be hard not having your dad close to hand - but at least he's only at the other end of the phone - and it won't be too long before you get to visit him! 6 Months sounds like forever, but it really does fly in!
Well done on sorting out the accounts - makes sense to get it out of the one account - I've only ever worked with 1 account, but since I'm starting work with a bank, they're insisting I have to have an account with them to be paid into - so I'm not sure whether to switch everything over, or if I should just try and work with the 2! Decisions - decisions!!
Sorry - I seem to be in a very rambling mood today - so I'll pop off before I hog up all of your page!! I'll be back later when I'm making more sense!!0 -
Hiya guys - itsssssss FRRRRIIIIDDDAAAYYY!!!!! YAY!!!!
I hope everyone is well??? ?
Thanks Laura - glad to see you're back safe & sound. Hope you had a lovely time!!! You can ramble anytime you like hun! ... After all my posts are always looooonnngg!!
Right update on changing direct debits - I have;
1) Got through to Gas & Elec company - YAY all changed
2) Changed mortgage
3) Changed TV Licence
:T
I can't do all the direct debits as some are yet to come out over the next few days - as and when they do I will be phoning after they leave my account and changing the details there.
Good newsI received cheque yesterday from old gas supplier - putting that in at lunchtime. Although I was very tempted to pay off something on credit card, a phone call from my brother last night reminded me its his girlfriends bday. .... so some of that extra money will go in the kitty all the family are doing for her driving lessons.
I'm now off to get those 5 birthday cards!!... Am still in bargain frame of mind though. All this birthday malarky means I haven't had a NSD yet though
.... Hopefully this weekend!!!
May be back later - if not have a great weekend everyone!!!

LOL thanks OBNW and Rags
I shall be nice though and add you to my calendar, but at least I have just under a year before yours OBNW and 9 months til Rags ………..What with the phone call from my brother about his girlfriend – that’s was a birthday Fri, Sat, and now one Today and tomorrow!! Well I suppose I got Sunday off!!
How is everyone?? I hope you all had a good weekend??
Good news is this morning – I have checked my bank and the 0% cash transfer has arrived!! I have already made the payment to clear the existing credit card!! :T I have called the bank and reduced my O/D .. I am about to change my signature now!! Essentially its shifting one debt to another – put its shifting it 0%!!!! :j
Good thing is in the next few days I should receive my letter about my mortgage going over to the variable rate… on calling a few weeks ago I would be £70 better off a month, that along with the £30 I was currently paying off my credit card… I am going to finally be able to make a ‘proper’ dent in one of my debts
On the budget – I still have £25 left til Wednesday – which is fab as I think I need to spend £10 (max) more today on tomorrows birthday present. And I’m about to make an online payment to my brother for his g/friends bday money as he’s been getting money together for her driving lessons. Its funny but he’s the most understanding out of all my family when it comes to me having no money and he’s only 18.
Anyway good weekend was had. Saturday was a NSDI did go food shopping yesterday and again have gone over my budget
… I don’t have anything else to get though – and I think I’ll even have freezer meals til well into next month!! I really am going to work at sorting my food budget next month though. Good thing is I’m being vary wary of it.
Have bought the bank card today to put cheque in at lunch! So all going well!
Right I’m off to snoop in others diarys ... in arnie styleee "I'll be back" (later... er he didn't actually say the later.. but I will be.... er....)

Hi Emms! Glad I am in good geeky company!:D
Looks like you are doing really well!! Don't worry too much about the shopping budget - a girls got to eat!! lol. It will balance itself out as you won't need to buy so much in the coming weeks!
I'll be back later - 'sposed to be working !!(still not sure what thats all about!!)
Nats xstart = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225
end = Mon 28th Sept 2015 DEBT FREE!
I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!0 -
Thanks Retro & Nats !!
You're right I guess a girls gotta eat - but I should have checked my freezer better as I realised yesterday I've now got looooadds of food , and also there was a couple of extra bits in there for a curry I'm attempting this week!
As for present, I kinda came in under budget but over! .... confused?!? Well the shop had spend over £10 and get extra item free (nice gift type thing worth £9). So the present was only £5, along with the £8 something for me (that I do actually use regularly that was nearly out of stock on). So with last weeks, buy 3 for 2 items, in total, presents for tomorrow are about £25 worth of nice stuff for £15!!
I am getting there!! :j
Oooo i put cheque in as well (had bank card today ...)LBM - 17th November 2008 - better late than never
