  • Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear you've been made redundant!!! :(

You've taken the news well, in your normal happy way! I echo what's already been said, stay positive, stay on the ball & you'll be back in work before you know it.

    Thanks Retro :)

I kinda guess that by getting all down about it - won't do me any favours. There are jobs out there - I'm fortunate I live just outside London, so do have the opportunity to commute if something comes up...

    To Do
Get on JSA website - erm... can't do quite yet *
    [strike]Shopping list for tomorrow[/strike] done
Start getting paperwork together half done
Call last two companies about direct debit change to do today
Work out next months bills. to do today

    * Can't do this until monday as that is when I am officially redundant. I am currently on notice leave (don't wanna be committing fraud!)

Today I got paid my last wages plus the lump sum they kindly gave me. It was the maximum my manager could get me and means I will be ok for a few months. I have immediately transferred from my current account to ISA.

Today I will be going budget food shopping - and doing the rest of the stuff above. I have applied for a job online again this morning - a temporary contract - but I think that could be a good way to go as it means I'll be working whilst seeking the right job. I am wary of taking the first permanent job that comes up as I could be taking it for the sake of taking it rather than it being the direction I want to go in.

Something I'm puzzled about - and may hop over to mortgage boards is whether or not to take a payment holiday for 2 months until my mortgage cover kicks in - just incase, then save my 'lump' sum for other bills?? any thoughts gratefully received :)

Right must get backside into gear - will be on later with update!

Have a good day everyone!! :D

Hello!! Nice to see you are your normal cheerful self!! You are right though, getting all down isn't going to help - but for most people it is natural reaction!!

Good luck with sorting all your paperwork etc - at least you have time to do it now (every cloud, silver lining and all!)

Have my fingers-crossed for you on the job front, but have a feeling you will be just fine!!

    Today is kick myself up the bum day... I didn't do as much of the To Do list yesterday as I should of; so plan of action for today (and I feel by writing it here - I have you guys to answer to!);

  • Hope you conquer your list. Good luck with the mortgage holiday. We phoned at the weekend to ask for 2 to tide me over until I start work, and they now deem our house to be worth less than it was when we took out the mortgage & are now over the 97% lend agreement - apparently! Thanks Halifax, for telling us that!

That's all despite my online banking saying 'Holiday Entitlement - 4 months'!!! GRRR!

Thanks Nats - encouragement needed!! ;)

Must admit to spending another hour after posting searching some job websites.

Am calling the companies after 2pm - think I have a quicker chance of getting through ...

Had an email back from agency about the contract job i went for and am going to sign up with them at 3pm - so just getting sorted for that.

Retro - thanks for advice - I can be prepared for that when I ask for it as I probably am in a similar position... still worth asking...

Will update later .... wish me luck
