Laura – I hate it when you type a long reply and it times you out!!

Happened to me a couple of times – so I’ve got in the habit now – if I know I’ve been writing for a while, I copy my text, paste in Word or something (or just keep on clipboard)… then if after logging back in, it hasn’t saved it for posting – I only have to paste!! – I’m such a nerd :o…. :rotfl:

    xx

Not a nerd - just sensible! ;) Depends where I'm posting from whether that works though - there's one of the computers in work which doesn't allow me to post at all (I can read as much as i like - it just never saves if i write anything) - and the other, I can post, but can't copy or paste on it?!

Maybe someone's trying to tell me I should only be MSE-ing from home!! :D

    xx

Today is pay day for me (sorry to those who still have a week to go :o)… but it couldn’t have come at a better time for me!! And yes I still had £30 left in main account and £10 left over from petrol/ food shopping/ bills account. I have decided to put the £30 towards my car tax – I now only have to find £30 out of wages (its £100 for 6 months :().. and the extra £10 is going with £30 credit from BT to pay my Rent Arrears – that is then FINITO!!!!!! YAY!!

For the first time ever though – I have money put aside for my car tax!!

I have been a little tiny bit naughty though :o – and ordered myself a semi-luxury birthday cake… it is my 30th and I’m not having a party. Friends are coming out with me to a restaurant and I know its going to be a lovely night… but I wanted a nice birthday and I’ve got one (well 2 actually because of numbers). I’m not buying a new dress – or shoes or anything – I’m making use of the things in my wardrobe – so I figure that this is my one present to myself and a nice way of saying thanks to my friends who are coming out (when everyone is experiencing financial strain).

I am going to work out over the weekend, some proper budget and how much I can pay off things. And so will be back at some point with a month ‘to do’ list :D

    Hope you’re all good? :)

You haven't half been busy since your LBM!! ;) :T Great news about the rent arrears, and the car tax!

And the b/day cake is well deserved - if you deprive yourself altogether, you'll be back on the road to ruin in no time!

How did your weekend go? You get much budgetting done? I've hardly been near my computer all weekend if I'm honest! - Just switched off from the world and had a nice wee chill out weekend to myself! Although I did have the girls over on Saturday night, but it was still a relatively quiet one - since none of us get paid 'til next week!

    Hope your Monday's going ok!

Thanks hun!! Really appreciate the encouragement!!

Laura & Retro I guess you're both right on the birthday cake, and it is a special birthday!

Not much 'working out stuff' done on the weekend, helping adopted mum decorate and then a bit of a chilled one yesterday. Did go food shopping, and didn't do as well as I hoped, but then I had used up all my cupboard stock. I still didn't spend as much as I use to, and think I have more than a fortnights shop! So yes I'm getting there.

Glad you had a good weekend hun! Girls over sounds like a good night!

:( at your work computer - does sound like someone doesn't want you to MSE... horrid monkeys!!!

Right to do list on its way!!

  • Right my luvvverlies (ooo arrrr ;)) have been a little busy, including organising said 30th birthday shennanigans ...

    Need to get back to 'To do' listing, it keeps me motivated;

    Tomorrow I must;

    1. Pay rent arrears

    2. Send off cheque for bin cleaning (long story)

    3. Pay credit card payment

    4. Start looking into PPI reclaim on old credit card, closed in August last year. Looking at statements I was paying £20 a month!!!

    5. Get money out for hair - I haven't had it done since September - so that's pretty good for me!! I now know I can put aside £10 a month and have it done every 3-4 months.

Went food shopping yesterday - still doing well!! Got quite a bit for my money. Still keeping to my lists, a little bit extra of mince & diced beef as it was on special.

Had the unfortunate spend of money on a oestopath - but REALLY needed it... could barely move... but bonus is the practice is AXA PP - which is my private healthcare at work - fingers crossed I will be able to it get through them going forward .

Another thing I'm proud of - I had to pay the deposit for my birthday night out on my credit card, but have managed to collect the deposits from everyone and put in an account to pay straight off credit card. In the old days- I would have spent that money as it was given to me.... I'm so proud I haven't ... :T they do say small steps :D

    Hope everyone is well?!

  • Ok my friends ... hope everyone is well despite this miserable weather!!!! :(

Not much to report, just checking in to keep myself motivated - do really need to start looking into PPI reclaim - infact may quickly go surf that board now!!

Just spent £8 on a tailor for trousers - but found the cheapest tailor in town (sounds like a western ;)) ... but had to buy lunch out :( Bit gutted was meeting ex colleague for lunch so didn't bring in homemade, and she cancelled ... dag nammit!! – I don’t really blame her – I had to cancel the other day too! :o

Obviously still had to buy lunch. Also staying at b/friends tonight so can't make lunch for tomorrow either :( ... I may see if I can pinch a can of soup off him instead as we have microwave at work now!

Anyway – rather than ramble for the sake of it, I’m off to investigage ;)

it's a pain eh? I stayed at boyf's last night, which meant I had to buy brekkie as soon as I got to work - waste of an NSD all for a grand total of £1.14!!! Tsk!! Met a workmate for lunch though, and her hubby had given her money to see her through 'til payday - so she paid! :j Felt a bit bad actually, since I'm quite stubborn about paying my own way - but it was damn good! ;)

Hope the plans for Feb are going well - I'm (im)patiently waiting on my payslip to get started on mine!! :D

  • Good morning my lovelies - well where have I been!??

Nope I haven't falled off the bandwagon - well in a sense I have spent but only on my big night out on Friday night! _party_ _party_

It was the big 3-0 celebrations and they all went well. I think in total I spent about £50 - £10 of which was cab and £28 of which was meal & drinks with meal. I was a lucky girl and treated to drinks after in the club (specially ordered cheesecake went down very well!!). Had a bit of a sore head on Saturday! :o

Monday was the actual birthday - and yes was SNOWED in!!! I did get to build a snowman and a few people managed to make it round to me. Although most people weren't in work on tuesday - so had more birthday celebrations at work yesterday (another cake - diet starts next week!).

Am round a friends tonight for dinner as she couldn't make it on Friday - so yes my birthday is lasting all week.

I have been good and said no to going out this friday - I really can't afford it, even though that devil on my shoulder is telling me to go out. I kinda want to, because its meeting more of my boyfriends friends, but the one whose birthday it is, I don't actually know - and its not going to be a particularly cheap night.

On a MS note - I really haven't used much of the food in my freezer, so grocery shopping this weekend (snow dependant) should be very cheap - just some veg & staple bits.

Don't think I'll be denting the debts this month :o but I've had birthday and car to sort. However I'm not over spending so I'm getting there!! I did however pay the night out deposit money straight off my credit card - no keeping it and spending it on myself like I would have before and ended up paying back at later date on higher interest.

I hope everybody is well and the weather isn't causing you all too much chaos. _party_ _party_
