  • I currently work as a Senior Finance Assistant, not for much longer though I don't think.

I used to be a Manager for Ann Summers Party Plan, but although the money was fab, the strain they put you under is not so good. Plus the AM, well the less said the better...

I am looking for something much better paid, hopefully in Finance, definitely NOT in Party Plan. After reading this post I now realise how underpaid I am and it's the final straw.

I also boost my income by doing all the surveys etc listed in my signature and I sell on Ebay, managed to make £200 in the past month just clearing out stuff I have hoarded for years.
    Consumer Pulse - £140 Debenhams & £20 HMV vouchers - so far.
Lightspeed panels - £130 Paypal so far!
Ipsos Panels - £20 Boots vouchers - so far!
Valued Opinions - £10 Amazon voucher - so far!

    I am Mid 40s

I am a Senior Claims Handler for a Buildings Insurance Firm, I validate and deal with all aspects of buildings claims.

Based in the Midlands, I work an out of hours shift from Lunch till 10pm on Saturday and Sunday only.

Pay is good at £16 per hour with plenty of overtime available at Time & 1/2.

I started 3 years ago with no previous experience in the industy.

Not a bad industry to work in, if you are "Mature" and have basic IT and comms skills provides a decent living either part or full time.

I also Mystery shop and Audit during the week, as well as making a very good living exploiting Tesco loopholes so far this year from Tesco I have managed 2 Free Cars on Tesco Points worth about £30000 in total, plus loads of other items and free shopping all year.

2 free cars on points??????????? how on earth

Easy really, (Or it was till they cut out all the extra points deals), Buy all the items with extra points on (Like when they did 100 extra points on Talc), Pay for all or as much as you can with Money Off Coupons, then sell the items at a boot etc, normally break even or make a small profit. Points are worth 4* in deals. so for example if you get 100000 points in a quarter thats worth £1000 in Tesco or £4000 in deals (Motorpoint were in deals selling cars till last month). so you could exchange your deals for a car. Takes dedication but I spent 2 days a week on average at it, and it took 3 months to get each car. 1 Fiesta Diesel worth £12000 and 1 Renault Megane Estate worth £17000

The loophole on that has closed now as Motorpoint pulled out of deals, it must have been costing them a fortune as Tesco only gave them a % of the price of the deals back

There are still good deals out there like holidays etc, but the big loophole at the moment is that some Tescos will take Money off coupons even if you dont buy the product, so with careful collecting of coupons (Both real and Internet varieties), you can shop for free and make a really good profit, I got a £1300 50" Plasma TV from them last week by using a variation of the money off coupon loophole.

Don't want to hijack this great thread to Tesco loopholes, so if you search on this site for Tesco and MOCs or Points deals you will find some really great threads.

  • I've sold my soul to work as a call-centre slave!

Actually it's not that bad - I only work 3 days as I study part time.

Downsides: Mindnumbingly boring as the calls are so repetitive and barely earn enough to live off!
  • I'm a Copywriter at an advertising agency... also make and sell jewellery on the side.
  • Im 26 and work in a special needs school as a qualified teaching assistant.

Just got a promotion in Nov to a grade 2 teaching assistant, so in the middle now and working towards becoming a grade 3.

Im from Australia and been in the UK since 2003, been in my current job since 2004.

I work 37.5 hrs a week as i also do an extra 5 hours a week at the school as a curriculum adminstrative support assistant (basically anything teachers need doing).

Also will be looking after a student outside of school for 5 hours a week once his parents have it all set up through direct payment. But it's up to parents how they want to use the hours, so could be 5 hours all at once at the weekend, or 2 hours on a Friday night etc.

    Totally love my job....

I'm 23 and work 30 hours (single parent) as an administrator in a marketing company. The client I work for is to do with property investment so not convinced my job is safe, especially because my manager keeps getting rid of people - i've managed to last since April 08 so far.

Before this i worked in a hotel for 6.5 years which i loved, but fancied a change so went into dental nursing. I didn't last long because i didn't drive and it meant i was getting a bus at 6:30am with a 4 year old and getting home after several bus journeys at night after 8pm.:o (for £4.25 an hour i might add, because i was an "apprentice" so was exempt from NMW)
