  • I have worked for the NHS for 29 years as staff nurse and a midwife for past 10 years I love my job but just had enough of the cr*p hours, short staff that short that working environment is dangerous and working in an environment that is so stressed staff can no longer get on with each other  and what annoys me more than anything is how there is still a bullying culture amongst staff and I am now sick of witnessing this against some members off staff, also lack of support from managers and MATRONS  (who ever they are and what ever they do !!!!) and not forgetting all the politics and cr*p. I lived and breathed midwifery and would work for no pay at all I loved my job that much but now I cant wait to leave the pay just aint worth all the stress that goes with it........sighs I feel much better now I have got that off my chest
  • I'm a web developer, just found a new job after being made redundant and more determined than ever to work towards my first home... pay is not so good at the moment, but I've got family that can help me out

  • Very interesting thread

I'm currently unemployed but used to work in accounts in an office. Pay has varied over the years with job changes

Accounts administrator got me a wee £13000 ten years ago
Moved onto analyst work about 6 years ago and my final salary for that was £17500
I then provided maternity cover for a financial accountant and got a poxy £18200 (and I knew the woman I covered for got £25k!)
I was then self employed for a year selling on ebay. Made between £100-£200 a week
Then I started temping. Temped in an office processing payments for £9.85 an hour with time and half overtime which was great - had a three month stint of working 6 days a week clearing 55-60 hours a week which helped clear a lot of my debt
Last role was a nice cushy office admin job - pay was only £7.75 an hour mind

Am now looking for any job lol - just want to be working, but am hoping to be able to take a lodger in next year and add Landlady to the list : )

I am a pharmacy technician who has just qualified as an accuracy checking technician. I earn just over £9 an hour, but my company is a bit behind with wages levels compared to other pharmacy chains.
I also work from home where I run a business selling makeup on Ebay and my own website.

I'm a pharmacy technician too. I work for the NHS though and earn a bit more than you without being a qualified checker yet. The NHS does have some perks! I do some shop work in a local pharmacy on weekends too but they only pay me £6 an hour. I do it for the experience.

I work for Learning & Development for a mobile network, training new people. I love my job but compared to the industry average, I'm underpaid for what I do. The trade off is that work is a 5 minute drive from home, excellent benefits and lovely colleagues...
