I'm 17 and work 29 hours a week (most overtime) as a general office admin. Wage is way above minimum but I'm getting whispers of it going up slightly when I turn 18.
  • After 5 years of study, I am finally living the dream - I am a primary teacher. Before this I:
    • sold books on Amazon (good income for a few years)
    • sold on ebay
    • sold avon
    • typed inventories
    • blogged on internet travel sites
    • worked as a TA
    • worked in a nursery
    • was a PA to a transport director
    • sold pensions
    • was a hairdresser
    • PHEW!!!!!
I still have to supplement my income by tutoring, which I do several times a week. I tutor 11+, 12+, GCSE maths and general primary english/maths. I love teaching and tutoring and one day I aspire to be a deputy head.
    BTW I am 45

Its rather disheartening isn't it! Although, as much as I !!!!! and complain, I *am* still grateful to have my job flying unlike many other people. Doesn't stop me wanting a new challenge though!

Brightonman, I got your PM but when I try to reply it says "Brightonman cannot recieve PMs", so I'll post here instead:

That job's not so much a "thing" as my actual career!

I networked my way into a Marketing Assistant job for an insurance company, got promoted to eBusiness Marketing Executive, self-studied for a CIM Diploma in Marketing, applied for a job as eCommerce Enterprise Manager, did a project management qualification and then finally got promoted to a job as Customer Experience Manager for the insurance comparison website :)
    Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |
  • I work as a recruitment consultant for a well known company. I actually came to ask about a temp call centre job as I got made redundant, but had an impromptu interview with the branch manager and then two days later, a longer one with the MD and the regional manager....now here I am.
