I use bags to wrap clothes in and then i either put it in a jiffy bag or wrap it in brown paper just to protect the item that little bit more. My postage is fine, infact sometimes i lose out because i havent estimated properly, but i suppose that is my own fault!
I think the packaging should be important. If you buy an item and it arrives in a tatty reused envelope or a carrier bag your already going to be unhappy before you looked at the item.
Mail bags are the best thing to use. You can buy inexpensive waterproof, tamper proof lightweight bags. They will make things much cheaper to post than if you wrap them in paper and brown tape and they will protect them from Royal Mail. You can get basic ones for about 8p or 9p each on-line. Just don't buy them in the post office as they cost a fortune. Stick to Ebay or staples etc...
By the way Royal Mail can refuse to deliver an item if its been sent in one of their Special Delivery bags turned inside out.0 -
I was once given a neutral for sending something in a polythene mailer. You know, the kind that eBay sellers sell for clothing.0

I saw a seller try and send a fully iced character cake in the post as a parcel once in just a flimsy shop cake box..it wasn't even sealed!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This is a big bug bear of mine I am paying for postage and packaging. NOT for someones queuing time/car park fees/shoe leather etc etc. 9 times out of ten there is a post office nearby to *most* people. And it is unlikely they are travellng the 20miles into town to the nearest post office and having to pay parking fee's and having to queue for an hour in the post office just to post one solitary parcel to me.
Just my opinion.May £10 a day challenge£19.61/£310Ebay challenge...£12.61/£2000 -
The two favourites I've received were a dress stuffed into an A4 envelope and no extra sellotape and some china put in a black bin bag - all but two items were crushed....
When I was a seller I sent out in re-used jiffy bags but always made it clear on the listing that I send out in clean recycled jiffy envelopes and at cost of postage only. I also put a little note in saying about re-use/recycle etc and use Woodland Trust labels - still some people complain.......;):rolleyes:But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. one thing to mention on reusing packaging like using the woodland trust labels.
score through/cover the RM tracking barcodes
the red printed ones you see here.
if not it can delay your items as the sorting machines will route your item back to your local office!!0 -
Yeah I tend to do that anway but thanks for pointing it out to those who may not have realised about it....:D (I didn't think to point it out ...)But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0
