  • I bought some seeds from wilkinsons, they were bogof, so i got a pack of 6 tomatoes, a big sandwich/ salad , golden sunrise a pretty yellow one, tigerella, red pear, red plum and a cherry tomato, the other pack was mixed salad leaves, so I can have fresh leaves not cleaned in chemicals withering in a bag, I got a pack with coriander, corn salad, mizuna, mustard red, rocket and spinach medania. all those 12 were £2.29. I also got a pack of sweet peppers (rainbow mixed) and a packet of tumbling toms, for £1.49. I'm going to be limited for space this year so i needed things I could just plant up in pots. The salad will get used as it grows and hopefully I'll have a glut of tomatoes to freeze.
  • oh and I bought one of those little polystyrene troughs preplanted with mushroom spores (more because I've always wanted to) and ithink it'd be lovely to make a fresh mushroom soup.

I've bought seeds today for lots of herbs, tomatoes, and salad veg. I know it's too early for sowing yet, but just wanted to ask what sort of compost I should be using, to grow them in pots on the patio? I'd prefer to use organic stuff, but don't know where to start.
  • I got free rocket seeds, so if I manage to cultivate those without the dog eating them, he doesn't like my plants, it will be a miracle!!

Im growing salad leaves (mix), carrots, spinach, garlic, and a variety of herbs indoors. Im also going to invest in some window boxes so I have free organic salad all summer long - perfect for sandwiches and salads to take to work for lunch. Im thinking of growing strawberries too but im not sure how much room they need, Im thinking of hm and hm grown jam!

Is anyone else growing purely indoors, and if so, what do you/can you grow?

Having a go at garlic now, seeing as it started to grow in the cupboard!

We might stick the bit of ginger that's sprouting in the ground too

You should try and use peat free compost I think you can get organic compost from Hydra and Crocus may do it too (sorry not at the link stage yet!)
