ooh i really wanna grow some veg but i have just a concrete yard so it will all have to be in containers... then theres the problem of not knowing where i will be living soon could be here another month.. could be here another 6 months.. could be here another 18 months! lol

Think i might have to have a word with my mum and hijack some of her garden for a small fee.. or ring the council for a small allotment between the two of us! Know she is keen on growing her own veggies too and also a keen gardner!

You can grow a fair bit in containers, why don't you do that for now, keep the containers fairly light and then you could perhaps move them with you?

I'll be growing all my stuff in containers again, it's easier for me to manage.

    Strawberries
    Radish
    Beetroot
    Onions
    Potatoes
Peas (rondo, fast growing and heavy cropppers)
Runner beans (red rum and painted lady, both brilliant)
Tomatoes (gardeners delight, tumbling tom, sungold and sweet million)
Lettuce (webb, iceberg and assorted leaves)
Herbs - rosemary, thyme, parsley, coriander, basil, chives, lemonbalm, sage and several mints.

I'm also going to use my lavender to make some wine, as I was given a recipe too late last year!

    tomatoes
mixed leaves - posh looking lettuce, seeds all come from one pack - brill

they had already sprouted out of bags all over the place. we planted them anyway 5 bags for £1 and ended up with 3 hessian sacks of spuds which we are still eating!!

I shall be growing tomatoes, Gardeners Delight, Tumbler and Roma which are plum type and make fantastic sauce. Also salad leaves, spring onions, various herbs, dwarf beans Hestia and round carrots Parmex. I grow them all in baskets and containers because I have Arthritis.

Just to say that I found potato sets in wilkinsons today.

They ranged from £2.79 to £2.89 and where 3 kgs a bag.

I bought two different lots and shared them with my parents.

Will have to get some mids and mains at a later date.

Great thread Calley. I'm trying some fruit and salad in containers on the patio this year.

Went to the cupboard to use the garlic yesterday and it was growing, so we've shoved that in a pot and we'll see how it goes
