  • Hi Thanks for the reply Pablo, I called again yesterday and was told I have passed all my checks and they have spoken to my referees and now they are just waiting for the business to get back to them with a start date for me. The lady at DWP said she was expecting this by Friday so I should have my start date by early next week. It seem to be getting closer now finally, getting exited now!! lol :)

What area are you wanting to work in? I am hoping for Wombwell, Barnsley or Goldthorpe.

Also just a thought but it may b worth calling the contact on your successfull letter and asking them if its possible to ring your referances to speed up the process. Thats what they did with mine. :):)

I asked about travel costs to interview as i'm on JSA.
I was told that normally its given if u have to travel outside a reasonable distance. I would be travelling 30miles.
They said they would have to contact the people doing the interview to confirm that i am attending. and at best I could get a reimbursement for the cost of a train ticket.
Would it effect my chances with the job if someone contacted them about me claiming travel costs.
Wouldnt it look like Im not willing to travel to work.

No, i shouldn't worry. I think they would understand that travelling far can be very expensive to someone on JSA, 50 odd quid a week doesn't stretch that far!! I think they also understand that if you did have a job, the travel/travel costs would not be a concern.

The job centre issued me with a day return ticket from Rotherham to Manchester. They did ring the company for them to confirm that I did have an interview with them. They didn't state that I had applied for help with travel costs. I understand that they do contact the company after the interview just for confirmation that I did attend.

You need to check with JCP as well as to the distance you need to travel before they will issue a day pass. They refused my application for a pass to Leeds, which is 32 miles each way, but granted the one for Manchester which is around 45 miles each way.

My god, you really don't have good luck with the dwp!!!

Glad you have found something else for now anyway :)

:rotfl:Yes, I must be crazy! A lot of them were the same area and grade but either full or part-time and with the same closing date so it was as easy to apply for one as it was for 3, 4 (or 12!). And the test results were supposedly going to be applied to all vacancies of the same grade; somehow I don't think that has happened.

I'm disappointed that I still haven't heard about the earlier applications though, as it's now nearly 3 months since the closing date for those.

Thanks for the congratulations, although I haven't decided which of the jobs I'm going to take yet (assuming my checks come back OK!)

Well, i admire your determination...you deserve a job solely based on that!!! :rotfl:

Just received my successful letter from DWP regarding IRC 62053 (EO West Yorkshire).:j:j

To say my interview was only on the 29th August, they have been pretty speedy this time:T:T

No mention of a waiting list either.

Congrats jessbob, it's a nice feeling when it eventually happens.
