Just popped into this thread as I am on a carrear break after 17 years (on and off) in the DWP. The interviews are just as longwinded as ever I see. I first interviewed in June 1990 and didn't start until mid november. Over the years I passed 2 EO boards and sat on waiting lists for jobs that never materialised and lost the postio at the end of 12 months. Trouble was I passed boards during a period when they were starting to shut offices and cut staff meaing exisiting EO's from elsewhere had priority for any positions which came up. At the moment they are really short of staff nationally both in the job centres and where I was in the processing units, so I would hope things are speeded up.
Good luck Guys I always enjoyed the work (have done virtually all the benefits over the years-can do manual calculations for them as well, so used to double check the computer calcs (yes it does get things wrong lol), it could be challenging at times at at the moment with cases stacked up it is very busy. Just debating whether to go back early (not due back till Sept 2010), but DD2 starts nursery in Jan so I could go back part time again. Boss certainly would be pleased as he needs the staff.
Would anyone like an idea about the training times? I did JSA training in 2006 so don't think it will have changed much.

    good luck

Re. IRC61139, Liverpool, got my interview result letter today. Unfortunately, I was not successful. Naturally, I am feeling very disappointed, as I thought my interview went okay, except for one tricky question at the beginning.

Have spent the whole day feeling utterly despondent and demoralised as a result of getting the bad news.

Has anybody else had an unsuccesful letter for this vacancy IRC61139?

Thanks, IRC 61139, for Merseyside, had interview in Liverpool. You still waiting? Good luck if you are ;)
