    hello all,
i interviewed on July 3rd for position of AO in Dundee. I've just gotten the call today about my start date which is 24th August.

However i had applied for part-time 20hours and can't do more than the 20hours even during training, the lady said she'll get back to me because training is full-time.

For anyone already working at DWP, do you know if there is part-time training available? if not i'm screwed

how do i explain buliding capability? and analysing improving changing? got any quick examples for these competencies please?
Hello hope you are ok. Don't worry about it as it isnt hard as it seems.

The building capability competency is about a time when you have build up your skills. For example at college or uni in IT you were good at other subjects but werent good at spreadsheets. Discussed this with your tutor or learning mentor who gave you different ways to develop your skills. For example by looking at more books, Sharing ideas with friends, Doing practice assignments, taking part in extra courses (ECDL, CLAIT).

Or it could be at work where you have had to attend a course or carry out training to move up your skills a level.

    For Analysing improving and changing.

Think of how you used to improve your performance at work. This could be done by watching other colleagues and by regularly keeping up to date with stock changes in the business.

You could also talk about how you regularly searched the internet or book to gain new knowledge and to keep up to date with chanes in rules and regulations.

    Hey guys,

I went for the Southeast EO interview for IRC 60370 on the 16th of July.
Still no word and when I called up one week they said they have been slow sending the letters out. I phoned a week later and this time the interviews havnt been finished yet.

It is good to see the DWP employee resource centre has honest and informed staff. woo.

Anyhoo, my cousin is an XO in a local town and his department has been told that they will receive the next in flux of staff in September. Is that for the people on a waiting list? or for peeps (like me) who were interviewd in July?

He couldnt say. Alas nepitisim can only get you so far...

    Fingers crossed for everyone concerned!

Hi Danny - I received a successful letter a couple of weeks ago for 60369 AO but I also have not heard anything regarding the 60370 EO. I had my interview on the 16th as well(14th for the AO). There was a screw-up in the online testing and interview invites. I've been told they won't be taking anyone on until they have interviewed everyone. There are people I know that still don't even have an interview date for these positions so I doubt we will get job offers anytime soon.

Maybe you could youll have to refer more to how your skills have developed from one role to another. Such as how you developed your skills such as communication and customers service skills in the supermarket job by carrying out training, doing courses, and from carrying out the job. (e.g. Learned to deal with distressed, difficult customers in training and while doing role)

Then you can say how these skills that you picked up from your retail jobs are helping you in your office job. I am currently using the skills I picked up as I have to speak to people on the phone and face to face.

Also you can talk about if you are currently carrying out any training, and courses do develop your skills further in your current role.
