He said that the HMRC had provided the details, and he was just tying up 'loose ends'..and within a few days it would be forwarded on to a business manager from the jobcentre. They would then decide based on merit, if they want me in their office.
He said 640 passed, and that they were looking to take ALL the applicants on. How quickly you get put through really just depends now on the jobcentre manager and whether they want you there. So I guess manpower will no longer be able to help its really down to the jobcentre now and if they want me there. If one team doesn't, they will pass me around until someone is willing to take me on.
So by looks of things, I dont think the hmrc and crb takes too long..I think they just say 4-6 weeks to fob people off from pestering them.
Hope this helps.
Thank you! That has put my mind at ease as I know some people go on to wait for months.
I'm wondering if I will have the same problem as I stopped working in February to concentrate on my last year of Uni but I did state that on the application form. I haven't received a call as of yet but I'm hoping that means all is going well.
I hope a local jobcentre is willing to take me on! I don't want to have to travel far otherwise I might not be able to take the postion0 -
Aha, I see. I think this is the error I made-I should have stated it, but as it was literally a case of 4 months, didn't think it'd be necessary. As you did, and you already have your CRB, I do not think you will have to wait too long!
I have heard that its quite difficult to get your first choice, particularly if you are quite far down the merit list like me, as the people before you will get the choice first should their application be processed quickly enough. I suppose it really depends on the quality of the applicant each area requires/desires, one area manager may well take their pick of the 30+ grades and others may not be fussy. I'm only guessing, but judging by what the guy said...it all really rests in the hands of the job center after the CRB/HMRC is completed.
Nonetheless, whatever will be, will be!0 -
I have just been informed of my interview score, 28, is this a good score, will I be offered a post anytime soon?0

Hi, I am a mum looking for a part time role and wonder if it is worth applying to the DWP as an AO. I only want to work part time, max 20 hours a week. Do they take on part timers? Also there are only 2 job centres local to me that I could get to in a reasonable time as I dont drive. Again what are the chances of me being offered a local job?
Thanks for any advice.0 -

Hi
DWP do offer a range of working patterns, however, you must look at the vacancy details as it will state whether they want part time/full time workers or both. It does usually state that part timers will work full time whilst training and the hours you would be given are dependent on business needs.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to choose your job centre. You will be asked your preferences but location all depends on how well you have done in your interview as well as where they need staff.
Look on the dwp website. It should have all the information you need.

Thanks. The area advertised in the post is huge, a whole county! Can't believe people would travel so far for a £14k a year job, maybe I am out of touch?0 -

I too do not want to travel for the reasons as you. I have a child and there is a nursery quite close to my house. Even so, it opens at 8am and closes at 6pm and that only gives me an hour to get to and from work.0 -
quick questions, i thought this (IRC62979/AO) was 18 months, some posts are saying 12months & also how much is the salary (is it £19,040?). i last heard of them on 18/11/09 with no disclosure yet posted to me, is this unusual. so far i heared only one person (in this threads) got his start date, or has others got it aswell but didn't bother to inform us. bless0

yes, the post was advertised as 18 months but it seems that the goal posts have been changed. All Band B roles in Inner London are £19,040. All new recruits start at this.
Offers and start dates are all subject to business needs so when there is a need for staff in your district that is when you can expect to receive a call regarding an offer.
Hope this helps0
