    WOW.Congratulations!!!!:T

That was quick.I am happy for you, also shows that acheiving good scores means that you get the good jobs faster.

    Is this your preferred location?

So you can go for the interviews that you already applied for but not for any new ones after joining.Am I getting it right?

It seemed the best location to me, a city based JC seemed to offer me greater scope i would imagine and of course experience.

As for other jobs, i can apply for any jobs, not just the current live ones....so long as they are more senior to an AO role, they will not allow 'sideways' moves.

So, my interview on the 11th for an EO is still a 'go'
  • wooo. well done Sportycus! Good luck with your post, you got lucky with the speed of it all.
  • Hello fellow dwp-ers.

I have had my success letter through-as have most people...there goes me thinking I was 'a chosen one' lol on the 18th Nov (my interview was in selsdon for south london region on or around 25th Oct).

I had my CRB Scotland Disclosure sent through on the 26th Nov (All clear!!).
PLZZZ REMEMBER TO KEEP THIS SAFE...I HAVE HEARD THAT ALTHOUGH CLEARED WITH NEWCASTLE, IF YOU TURN UP ON YOUR FIRST DAY WITHOUT THE CRB FORM...THEY WILL SEND YOU HOME AND YOU WILL BE PUT ON THE WAITING LIST OR EVEN HAVE TO GO THROUGH WHOLE APPLICATION AGAIN!! KEEP SAFE!!

Now, i only came across this forum because my cousin is going for the EO position for South London (lol we both did the form on same day, copied each others answers..he got a call back, i didnt..) and am noticing people going on about emailing scotland CRB-why? Do I need to send this form to someone or something?

Also, who shall I contact to speed things up? Is there a number to contact so I can see where I stand?? I called the number stated on the letter 0191 216 6962 and the guy was so unhelpful. My pal advised me to stretch the truth and say I forgot to put postcode down for a reference to see if maybe they would ask for a phone number instead (they did this with her and she got cleared in 1 week after they spoke to her referee directly), and he just blankly said ''WE DO NOT CONTACT YOUR REFERENCES, WE GO STRAIGHT TO THE EMPLOYER FOLLOWING CONTACT WITH HMRC.BYE.'' !!!!!!!? Why do they ask for the references if they go straight to your previous employers, as I put down an old family lawyer and a teacher?! They should have just asked for their details in the first place, as in a direct employment referee.

Not sure what to do now. Getting all sorts of information from friends who work there and you guys. Seems so that there is a long, lengthy waiting list...despite there being a massive and urgent recruitment drive!!

Who shall we contact? Is there a useful number?? What info should I get clarified!? Plz help because its really annoying me now, and there are other DWP jobs to apply for and not sure if its now worth my while. AND TO TOP IT OFF, was made redundant from my student-carry through to graduate-job. YIKES!

    cheers!!

Congratulations! You are very luck indeed. The job centre you will be based at is very close to where I live.

I scored 24 out of 36 which is not that good. My disclosure application is currently with the vetting team and it will take around 2 weeks to process. I bet I'll be waiting a very long time...

Glad to hear that both of you have received the CRB certificate. Do you know what will happen next? Fingers crossed I receive mine soon.

Considering Sportycus received his and not long after, got a start date - I hope that is what it means.

However, I hear everyone is different and some receive their CRB and months later are still waiting for their start date.

I guess it all now depends on location and where you are positioned on these so-called 'merit lists'. I still am non the wiser about where I am as I've been told there is not one as of yet!

Do not worry Miss Ray, I got a similar mark...and guess what, im like 400 on the merit list and I got 27. Still, least we hit the 20+ mark. Remember that A HELL OF ALOT OF PEOPLE are third/fourth time rounders in the interviews, and therefore had a better idea of what to do/say/expect and I believe many of these people make up much of the 600 successful candidates!! Looks like you might just need to look elsewhere, because the lady I spoke to said there is no 'telling' when and where we will get posted. HRMC can take upto 3 weeks to validate employment history so with this in mind, together with the merit waiting list, dont hold your breath to be placed anytime before jan/feb as positions are already being filled. People are being redeployed into different areas on the 'old contracts'* and therefore positions seem limited. Not liking the merit system at all..its a joke, its like a fish market.

    * old contracts are the non- fixed term ones, which do not involve the 8-8pm hours.

Good luck and just keep up the job search do not rely on this to come through, I'm not anymore. If it comes along, then great, if not, never-mind.
  • For your information, I got a call from a really helpful guy called Dom from Manpower Newcastle. He said there was a gap in my employment which wasnt accounted for, I explained I was at Uni and chose not to work for a few months to concentrate on my studies.

He said that the HMRC had provided the details, and he was just tying up 'loose ends'..and within a few days it would be forwarded on to a business manager from the jobcentre. They would then decide based on merit, if they want me in their office.

He said 640 passed, and that they were looking to take ALL the applicants on. How quickly you get put through really just depends now on the jobcentre manager and whether they want you there. So I guess manpower will no longer be able to help its really down to the jobcentre now and if they want me there. If one team doesn't, they will pass me around until someone is willing to take me on.

So by looks of things, I dont think the hmrc and crb takes too long..I think they just say 4-6 weeks to fob people off from pestering them.

    Hope this helps.
