well that's strange, because others have been told there is no waiting list, at least not until all the pre-recruitment checks have been complete. I scored 21 so not great either, but the lady i spoke to didn't tell me about any waiting list.
Also, how do you know there are only 37 vacancies to fill in right now?0 -

The chap I spoke to said there were 37 vacancies to be filled in right now but that there would be more vacancies coming up later on... I wasn't told anything about a waiting list but it is obvious to me that if they only need 37 people for now I will be put on a waiting list since I'm way down on the merit list? Also, an EO at the job centre said nearly everybody who makes it goes on a waiting list...0 -
yeah, IRC 62979. Well, these forums are full of people who have been waiting around for 6-12 months. Considering my score, I won't be holding my breath any time soon. Do you know what the pass mark was for the interview?0

I'm afraid it varies. CRB checks etc, can take any time between 2 -4 weeks. If you haven't heard anything about your checks after 2 weeks then phone up and make sure all is well because DWP have a habit of not contacting u if something is up. Once all checks are cleared you can get a start date a couple of weeks after or 5 months (or more) after. I received my success letter at the beg. of Sept and got the call middle of November, so over 2 months, and I wasn't on a waiting list.
CHEERS Dennis for the reply, you've just confirmed my suspicion that they may take very long time and I didn't know I may need to contact them to ensure things OK thanks for that. Anyways they can take as long as they like im starting another job on Monday which will keep me going till they reply. I don't know how they expect people to survive this long without job, they should advice people to look for jobs in the mean time. Anyway that’s my advice don’t hold your breath look for other jobs.0 -

I just called the number on the letter and was told I scored 22 out of 36 and am no. 400 and something on a merit list of 670 plus... So I am guessing that I am on a waiting list given that there are only 37 vacancies to fill in right now... What I don't understand is that the letter says that I have been successful but then it also says that they will contact me once the pre-recruitment checks are complete to confirm whether or not they will be able to offer me a post... Kind of confusing, isn't it? My concern is that I am so far down the list that all the vacancies will be filled in and that I will not get a job offer. I find the letter quite confusing and misleading. Any thoughts? Can somebody explain to me what is going on?
Many thanks!
I totally agree with you! I called and was told there was no waiting list as we had to wait for pre-recruitment checks to be done on all those successful before we would be place in order. I was told to wait at least 4 weeks for all the checks to be done and then they would contact me.
Contradictively, there are posts on here that state where they are postioned. So I could not even recommend calling them up to answer your questions because it seems we are all given different answers!
The only thing I believe may be of help is to speak (or even email so you have written proof) with the person who is in charge of filling these vacancies.
It just seems silly that they post a vacancy that thousands probably applied too, over 650 are 'successful' and there are only 37 vacancies as of the moment. So what about the people who are still awaiting a job who applied before us? What about us when they relist the vacancy and have another batch of 'successful' applicants?0 -
I also called them today to get my score and discovered that i'm joint 52nd (at which i lost all hope) but the guy did reassure me that they have around 350 vacancies for this post, so who knows there's hope yet.0

Looks like there is a lot of conflicting information given.I tried the number that was given by Sportycus and the lady gave me a different one and said that she does not deal with this IRC.0

the guy i spoke to was adamant that there were 300+ for immediate start (for irc62979). did you apply for the EO or AO position?0
