hey pbecca - what is your IRC number? What job role is it?0 -
I received my Disclosure Scotland today! :j So will be joining the 'why are we waiting' crew :rotfl:
After 18 months of unemployment I now have three job offers pending 'pre-employment checks', so for me jobs seem to be like buses! Still don't have a start date for any of them though
Oh well, they say patience is a virtue0 -
Does anyone else find it surprising that so many people fail the BASIC numeracy/literacy tests?0

Me. I thought they were ridiculously easy. My wife got every numeracy question correct and she won't help our 9 year old with his numeracy homework for fear of doing it wrong. Also, she took 4 attempts to do her O level Maths before passing so it really isn't difficult.
However, I can understand why some people freeze through nerves.0 -
Yeah, i get that people can freeze, (i expect i will as soon as i sit my interview!) but it's like upwards of 50% of candidates are being sent away for failing either or both of these tests. I find that quite shocking really.0

I dont actually. Some people can be fantastic at a job but not so hot on numbers etc. My brother went for EO (he has had way more experience than necessary) but becuase hes not great on spelling on words u dont use everyday, he failed the literacy (20 out of 20 for numeracy) and wasnt successful. I thought it was pretty easy and passed but if im being honest my brother was way more qualified for the job than me (i failed at interview stage whereas im sure he would have passed that no probs). I am now on merit list for AO.0
