I think DWP have messed up the reference codes somewhere along the way, because I applied for the AO position, reference 62644, yet the automated e-mail I then received to let me know they'd got my application had the reference code 62645 in the title

OH applied for both but when he got the automated response back they both said 62645! So yes, they do appear to have messed up somewhere.

Hoping it is the EO job as it's more money!

    Good luck on the 29th!
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?

Thank you, and good luck to your OH :)
  • Hi guys,

just wondering...i recieved a call from manpower inviting me for the written test for the last EO london position.....but the funny thing about this call is that the guy said my passport photo must be signed and stamped by either an accountant,Gp or a solicitor......is this a new rule or what cos is a bit strange.....as for the irc...am just too lazy to check my inbox....but is the last EO posted in the london region....any feedback is well appreciated.the test is at Hilton Hotel croydon.
  • Hi,

This is my first post on here, but hope someone can help!

I have passed both my literacy and numeracy tests and I had my competency based interview 3 weeks ago this Wednesday. Manpower gave me a sheet of paper confirming I should hear back in 4 weeks from the interview date but I have been out of work for 8 months and really want to hear!

They gave me a list of numbers to ring if I wanted to chase up the DWP but the number I need to use just rings and rings and rings. Will I hear soon do you think? Also one of my references has left her job and is now doing teacher training. Will this cause me a problem, and could that cause a delay? Is there a time scale (if I am successful) where I will have to wait before I can start work, as I really need something ASAP.

Oh and I am based in the West Midlands if that affects anything.

If you were to read the various posts on DWP recruitment here you would realise that waiting at least 3 weeks before hearing anything regarding interview is the normal. Some people have waited months...Also, they tend not to answer the telephone so keep trying until they do!!!

Should you receive a successful letter you could be able to call Newcastle HR and explain to them the situation regarding the referee.

Apparently there has beeen a recruitment freeze in some areas, not sure if this affects you.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for your reply.

I did see that 3 weeks in the norm, I just meant that because of the recruitment freezes, would I be affected. I guess that I could still be out of work for some time then. :(

One thing I was told by the Manpower rep when I went for my interview was that as far as they were lead to believe was that there were "10,000 jobs across the UK." So that seems to be a good sign.

Manpower rep's info was probably out of date by the time they passed it on to you. Recruitment freeze is because they're doing a national re-check on exactly how many people they need and where they need them.

You're lucky, though: it seems West Mids is one of the areas that is exempt from the freeze. Only if the positions were for JC+ offices, though (BDC's and contact centres are still frozen).

As to how long you'll have to wait: it varies. If your IRC has been run without problems, you could hear quite soon. Unfortunately that seems to be far too uncommon. The IRC's I applied for were hit by big delays due to multiple errors throughout the process, leaving myself and my partner now sitting here with success letters that may not be worth the paper they were printed on.

That has actually made me feel a lot better! The jobI went for was at the JC+ as far as I know, so fingers crossed! Even if I could just get accepted it is a start, but I guess I will just have to wait (along with a lot of other people.)

I thought the info on 10,000 jobs would be a bit off, but hopefully there are enough to go around. How do you find out the info on the recruitment freeze?

  • Hi guys

I have my interview tomorrow for an EO job and was wondering if anyone here can give me some pointers for the interview?

For those that went for the EO job, what sort of questions did they ask? Can you remember any specific questions?
