    Hi Again,

I had "the call" today and have been offered a job in Leeds, irc-60529, I was also successfull at s.yorks interview 60535 but was told I am 225 on the merit list and they will not be setting on anywhere near 200 so I have had to take the leeds one

Hmmm. So there are not as many jobs going as people on the merit list for South Yorkshire:confused::confused:

    Very worrying:eek:
  • Hi All,

Thanks for your replys, I suppose I will have to grin and bear it for a year or so then. I really am over the moon though as I have been unemployed since may now and have just got a new home. Phewwwwww!! :)

Yes the lady at dwp told me they keep changing the number of people they want for south yorkshire now and that they dont require nearly as many people as first thought!! Which isnt so good, But I am glad they were honest with me and I now know where I stand.

I am doing my training at Huddersfield, then I will be based at Southern House in Leeds. Once I have drove there a couple of times I am sure I will be ok, Going to do a test run next week early to check what traffic is like etc.

I live in Mexborough so it would probabley be over an hour for me if I got the train, Just checked AA and it says 48 mins in Car.

:) Just glad to have a job after such a long drawn out process.

How far is the Southern House office from the train station? The last train I got from Swinton Station took under an hour to get to Leeds. Is there free parking at Southern House?

Just a bus ride away the lasy says. Its on york road, Yes there is free parking and also on street parking (free) available so not too bad. Are you working in the city centre then? Congrats on the EO posistion you have done really well and definatley have more of a chance getting a long term position. The lady from Leeds told me today that if you go to a larger office you have more of a chance of a permanent contract then in a small office so fingers crossed. ;)

I've only just received the successful letter a couple of weeks ago for the EO position, so don't know which of the offices I will be offered. Undergoing the pre-recruitment checks at the mo:rotfl:

If I get offered the same office as you, we will have to car share seeing as you are in Mexborough and I am in Swinton:rotfl:Save us both some dosh:j Bags the sunny days for my car tho :rotfl::rotfl:

Nothing wrong with a Saxo:D Good luck for your start date. Let me know how it goes. Don't think I will hear anything that soon though, as I only received the letter a couple of weeks ago. Will let you know if I do:T

  • I got my CRB back almost three weeks ago with a note saying they would be in contact shortly but I've heard nothing. I had my interview etc back in July. Does anyone know the number I should call to ask someone about this? I did the South Yorkshire interview.
    Many thanks.

    Many thanks.

You ring the number on your successful letter to enquire as to the present position. I had my CRB Cert back on this IRC a few weeks ago same as you, but if you read Newbie1's posts above, the worrying thing is they are now stating that there are more people on the merit list than there are vacancies !! Apparently, no-one has received a call with a start date on this IRC as yet

Keep us updated with any response you get from them, thanks
