  • I have had the same, phone call this mornig to cancell my order, they also assured me that no one would be able to place an order early not even those invited.

I have just checked and for my area all of the 23 rd has gone, so back on the phone to customer service who explained that I could place an order on the 30th Nov and only those invited could place an order early

I asked for complaints procedure but all i got was the customer service email address so fire the below off to them, not that I am expecting anything. it will be Asda from now on

    Dear Sir

I have recently placed an online order of grocery's for delivery on the 22/12/2008. It had come to my attention that certain customers had been given an invitation to chose a xmas delivery slot that was not available to your general customer base. I placed the order by editing the URL

The following morning I received a phone call from one of your customer service agents explaining the order had been cancelled, I explained the unfair system Tesco had adopted for this year and that I was one of the first customers to embrace the online grocery ordering system and that I have placed a order every month for £200-£300 ever since and some months placed 2 orders. In fact my last order was for £430. The lady told me that Tesco's had in fact made a mistake and no one would be aloud to place an order early, even those who had received an invitation.

Later in the afternoon I checked the slots left for delivery just before Xmas and nearly all delivery's for the 23/12/08 had been booked. This is a little strange as I had been informed by a Tesco representative that no one would be able to do this. I then rang customer service and explained and basically the lady said I would have to wait for the 30/11/08 and that those who had received an invitation would be able to book a xmas delivery slot

I was outraged by this and explained to the lady that Asda and Sainsbury's now delivery in this area now and it appears that many many years shopping at Tesco stores and then onto Tecso online ordering from the start means nothing. The lady could not give me an answer, so I asked for the complaints procedure to which I was asked to email this address

I would have thought in the current climate the last thing Tesco want to do is upset its customer base, on reading certain forums it would appear there are many people like myself.

Please would you reply to this as an matter of urgency as to why I cant order over the Xmas period, the same as invited people, or better still send me one of those invitations. Please do not send me a standard reply as this will only increase the anger that I and feeling at present

  • I too am very hacked off at this and have sent them an email explaining how this is making their customers feel. Then I pondered for a while over it and thought, stuff them. They are a faceless company who are taking over every spare plot of land there is to build on in every town. Putting smaller businesses under greater strain to survive and sometimes out of business. They have a pretence that they really care about customers, all the while taking our money and their fat cat managers get richer and richer. They don't care , they're only interested in how much money they can make, luring you with deals. So I say, shop elswhere, better still shop local and support your local village/town independant shops. It can actually work out cheaper just requires a bit more legwork. And at least you'll not be left on Christmas Eve with half your shopping missing as they couldn't cope with the stock demand.
  • Have rung and had my say.
On reflection, I'm thinking 2 things.
1 It's a bit hypocritical of me to jump at the chance of a cheat to get my slot early then be cross when Tesco reward their top spending customers by giving them those slots.
    HOWEVER
2 I'm wondering if that top spending thing is their panic response as they have just had a memo passed round about this because people are complaining. Some of the previous posters say they are not big spenders. Is Mr T lying now.
Also this is pants marketing as it gets you no more money from your top spenders but annoys the life out of the rest of us. We don't need too many reasons to shop elsewhere. The clubcard scheme was only worthwhile when there were glitches. When you consider the other discounts to be had on holidays for example, the CC Deals are only really worth 2 times face value. Big points codes have dried up. Asda give you any substitutes in your online shop at the same price as what you odrered even if the substitute is more expensive. They are also cheaper for me. I've already found it cheaper to do non food shopping like books/CDs elsewhere so why stick with Tesco?

This may be just the shove I need to go elsewhere - bad attitude Mr T. If I'm not a 'priority customer' for you, then you aren't a 'priority shop' for me. My annual bill for petrol/food runs into thousands.
  • Anyone know the company email address of some one high up in Tesco's ??

Now how savvy would it be of Sainsbo to release their Xmas week delivery dates early and catch all these disgruntled people Tesco are so recklessly throwing away?
Heh...I'm in a menace kind of mood - I may well email them the link to this and suggest it.:rotfl:

I have just spoken to customer services and was told that the priority slots had been given to people who had had deliveries every week for the last 10 weeks since I had missed a couple of weeks when on holiday then I had not been chosen!

  • Does anyone have an email address please?
I've a good mind to cancel tomorrows shopping. I think it's particularly rude to leave messages on mobiles- what an easy get out!

That's not what they told me!!!
They said it was for 'the top 10%of customers' according to spend.

I've tried to find an email address to post them a link to this thread but I can't. Anyway, what do they care? They can't even get their story straight.
