I've read chunks of this thread looking for inspiration - some of the amounts some people have paid off are amazing - well done everyone!! Some of you pay off more in a month than I actually earn - is this all from just ebaying/amazon selling etc?

I updated my totals yesterday but was miserable about it because it was just minimum payments, have got over my misery now and so am pleased to post that I have paid another £612.09 towards my debts.
Spendaholic - I think there are lots of people tackling it in different ways. Some of us have salaries that allow us to pay this sort of money, others of us are working overtime on ebay, carboots and second jobs to do it. Some people have done matched betting and I recall (I think it was) Hypno almost driving herself to distraction doing the free bingo trials last year. Oh and some people are doing a combination of all of the above.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

Haven't posted on this thread for ages as life has been rather difficult and muddled recently. I have sorted out my snowball tonight and updated my signature and have paid off £1196.15 so far. Obviously this is nowhere near enough to make my challenge but have had to make a few hard decisions.
1. Decided that OH should have the car he wants so any spare money and extra earnt money is going into car fund at the moment. Decided that this was a priority as he has been quite ill this year and is a very good husband and father and if anything happened to him and he had not had this car I would feel so guilty (he has entered a comp to win one but I am not holding my breath). Not MSE and not sensible in view of below but something I need to do.
2. Learnt that our income is under threat could be down by 30% at least.
3. Decided to sell our house and our property in Lanzarote and move to an area with better schools so that we don't have to pay school fees. Have had our house valued even with the credit crunch I was surprised how much it had dropped and over £50000 difference in the valuations. After visiting the areas to see all the properties we had identified this weekend realised I could not live in any of them. So plan B is not to sell our house yet but to sell Lanzarote house first and then reassess market and if still no suitable houses available may consider building our own if we can find a plot. The downside being no idea how long it will take to sell but when it sells will clear credit cards.
4. Only making minimum payments and PAD payments on CC but got them all on to 0% or low life of balance rates so payments are making a difference. The payment this month has been lower because I have had to pay some balance transfers fees to transfer to 0% rates but worth it in the long run. One strange thing was that I had accidentally overpaid on one cc because minimum payment had gone out on a different date due to have been taken over by barclaycard went on line to check how much overpaid (£45.19) only to discover that I was over £5300 in credit when I checked they had credited the balance transfer as £10600 instead of £5300 checked card I transferred from but only £5300 transferred. So I rang them and they don't know how it has happened but they will be in touchshe did say it would make a nice christmas present but it must belong to someone.
5. Daren't pay off any more off debts at the moment as not sure what income will be (only paid 4 times a year) so have to be cautious.
So will either pay off all debts by selling Lanzarote house or very little if it doesn't sell as will have to reign in expenditure (except car:rolleyes:). I will leave target as is but not sure what 2009 will bring.
Thanks for listening to my rambles.

Hi, I can only speak for myself on this. I made quite large payments last month as I got a bonus (yet now they're talking pay cuts go figure!). You'll see from my signature I took part in the tenner a day for the majority of last year this was made up of extra work, ebay, amazon, greenmetropolis, surveys, quidco and anything else I could lay my hands on basically. For this year I've decided to set myself a goal each month. This month its ebay as much as I can! Remember its not a race and every little helps. Even an extra pound or two is a less to pay interest on.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera.
