I think a compromise is the best idea you are right - I probably wouldn't enjoy the holiday so much if I knew I'd blown so much on it when I could have put it towards my debts - too much guilt!(Although I wasn't planning on using up the whole £1000). I think a long (cheap) weekend away is the best option. Its probably the cold getting into my bones - or my brain- thats making me dream rather unsensibly and sillily of far away hot beaches!:D

    Thanks for your advice.

    Hi Everyone,

I got really motivated this morning and took back £83 worth of stuff back to Debenhams. Stuff I bought for a wedding that I did not end up wearing. I was quite shocked to see that they went down to less than half price on the shelves.

I stuck to my guns and got the refund (back onto my card) - will be paying this off in full this month.

Changing my sig line to reflect it.
Original debt at LBM July 2008, £47, 654.34. Debt at January 2016, £21,443. Barclaycard [STRIKE]£9,000[/STRIKE]£8,756, Tesco cc [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£1,136. Debenhams storecard [STRIKE]£350[/STRIKE]£263, OD [STRIKE]£3,500[/STRIKE] £3,000, Corp Tax £3,036, Study loan £1,750, Smaller debts £2,000.

Since my LBM I have not been fully committed so now I have had a 2nd LBM.
Aiming to be debt free by December 2016:D

Good choice! Big tick! Think how smug you'll feel, paying off a big £500 from something.
  • £225.98 in my monthly installment for my loan came out yesterday. Saved £30 that I didn't spend on petrol over Christmas and £2 from November Petrol so that has gone into my ISA till my 0% runs out on my credit card - might as well make my money work for me when i'm not getting any interest and get interest in the ISA instead :D

Mortgage payment gone out, inc overpayment - making total so far £4744/ £15000. And hubby STILL needs to finish claiming expenses so we can pay off the last of his CCs! Grr!

I've transferred my Dec Quidco money into a savings account - will do something with it when it's a viable figure :) (£16.58 atm)

    Well done everyone!

It seems like such a huge amount, but I'd like to throw my hat in and go for it - we've been with CCCS for a couple of years now and all is going brilliantly, but how lovely it would be to not need them at all...:o

Can I sign up for £24,000 please (big red letters might shock me into action!)

So far this month: £1134.20 - would like to make an overpayment at the end of the month too, so I'll be trying to pull out all the stops!

Good luck to everyone, will pop back often to see how everyone is getting on.
