lots of payment for me over the last few days - £646 in total. Dreaming of the day that I can keep that money for myself!

    God, won't that be amazing?!

Well I'm back from my weekend away. It was wonderful - lots of swimming in the outdoor pool, which was erm, bracing, relaxing in the jaccuzzis and indoor pool, hanging out in the different saunas/steam rooms, having 'us' time, taking long bubble baths in the amazing freestanding tub with a huge skylight directly above it so you could see the sky as you bathed... eating delicious michelin starred food... really did not want to come home. The hotel was great though a little more modern that we thought it would be - they are quite tricksy with their pr photos. But still amazing and we said we really ought to do it more often... don't regret spendnig the money at all. You only have a fifth anniversay once, right? The guy on the desk said, 'so Mrs Smith, will we be seeing you again before your sixth anniversary?' and I said, only if you send me a really REALLy good offer. I don't think we could afford to do it again but it's nice to dream...

    Hi everyone :hello:

Apologies for not keeping up with this thread.

I am still trying to make as much money to save and pay off debts, some of you may have seen me on the small DFW daily thread. I was working at a restaurant part time as well as my full time job, but it doesn't seem they are giving everyone shifts now and haven't had any for 5-6 weeks. My friend who works there is checking the rota for me tonight as it is getting too embarrassing to ring for them to say no, so if I have none this week, I will look for something else.

Also got a shock at the weekend. I have to be sent statements for my hire purchase for my car now, and what I thought was a loan at approx 6% and totalling £4800, is actually 15.7% at £6700! (with £4100 left to pay) I wasn't going to include this loan in my target because I thought it's unlikely i'l ever be able to afford a car upfront so my parents have always told me to think of it as a mortgage like they do. Now it turns out that this car loan is double the interest of my personal loan (I have about £6700 left on it) and the car loan only finishes 6 months before my personal one, am I right in thinking I should pay the car first?

We are now almost at 13th July so almost half way into the year and i'm not even near the halfway mark on my target. Apart from the usual Ebay, mystery shops etc, anyone got any good tips? They would be gratefully recieved. X
  • Hi

I am lone parent, with debts totalling £25000, I work and bring in £2300 a month with maintenance payments of £400, although I think these will be getting cut by CSA soon. My mortgage etc take up £1000 which leaves £1300 for everything else. I know I should be able to get these debts down but can't seem to at all. Always seems to be something else to pay for at home or for kids. horrendous overdraft of £4000 due to being flooded in September and insurance not covering all work carried out but remainder on 0% for next 12 months or so. I tried to remortgage and was told my Abbey that I had enough coming in for an additional loan with them, they even gave me 3.9% fixed to stay with them for next three years but have now told me that with their affordability charts I am £194 short a month, all this from an adviser who informed me I was £28 surplus a month. Can't see light at end of tunnel, feel overwhelmed and not sleeping. Any advice much appreciated, thankyou.

    D:confused:
