Hello folks
know its been a while since I visited the forum and just wanted to congraulate everyone on the progress they have made, I can sense some of you are somewhat despondent but continue taking it one step at a time and chipping away, the light is it at the end of the tunnel and we are making our way there. have been a bit low what with everyone talking about or preparing for holidays away but am determined not to be swayed so have had to smile along and focus on the challenge of being DF as oppose to blowing it all just for 2 weeks of sunning it then worrying about paying it off for the remainder of the year. have booked to go up to edingbugh for for the comedy festival and booked my tickets early so got a good deal on my train fare. sorry am rambling, am slightly in shock over the news re the deaths of farrah fawcett and michael jackson and it has served to remind me to get things in proportion and focus on building good memories by spending time with loved ones in a more creative manner than just spending money all the time.
anyhow its payday today so wanted to put down my tally
£620 paid off today
mum loan £90 five more payments to go
additions £100 balance is now £920 have been phoning them each month to reduce the balance once I make a payment
bank loan £210 balance is £13000
hsbc card £60 balance £2000
halifax card £70 balance £1200
vanquis evil card £100 balance £300
student loan £90 balance £1000
the aim is to pay off the vanquis and addition and mum loan debt by the end of the year and severely reduce the balance on the halifax and hsbc card. so far so good and once the vanquis is paid by august will use that to snowball against the others
have booked some cheap theatre trips and day trips over the next month so that I don't feel like I am missing out and have arranged for some additional shifts which tend to tide me over.
sorry its been so long take care everyone and keep watching those pennies. :rotfl:misselvis proud and in motion - dealing with her debts step by stepDFW #107
challenge pay off 6.5k by the end of 2017~ £388/£6500 challenge 1% challenge = 6% of debt cleared; challenge - build up 3 months emergency fund- £0/£60000 -
i know its a bit of a shock but once you have taken a deep breath had a cup of tea or something stronger relook at the finances and see what kind of payment you can make. I find they can be quite flexible and reasonable if they appreciate you are trying to repay.

Morning everyone.
It's payday. I've put all debt payments onto standing order/direct debit to go out as soon as I get paid, working on the principle that it's less painful that way (a short, sharp shock - a bit like pulling off a plaster).
I've paid £790.07 - I don't know whether to jump for joy (£790.07 off debt) or cry (£790.07 A MONTH!!! that would be all mine to save or squander as I like ). I feel like I did the first time I got pocket money (50p) - I spent the lot in one go and my mother wouldn't give me any more - I sulked for a week. There's a whole lot of sulking going on here at the moment :rotfl:.
On a more mature, adult note - I've paid off £6354.07 towards this challenge. I've managed to knock a month off my debt free date. That's the "absolute maxiumum, carry on paying what I'm paying, pay it all date", so I'm sure it will be sooner. It feels good to have a date in mind, even if it is a long way off.
Hope everyone else is doing well.
Have a good weekend.
