yes :T:T:T0 -
re the £3 credited as £300 the cashier probably had more than one error that day making it virtually impossible to trace , £297 out should have been picked up .0

If not, which account have you got and how's your interest work as it seems better than mine with them where I've got that and an e-saver for the surplus each month? (Despite their reputation it might be worth having as a side account that's relatively inactive)
In terms of what to do with the money, if you've got letters that are showing you've made reasonable efforts to sort the problem feel free to put the money into savings, just make sure you can get it back quickly when they work out where it's meant to be. They should give you notice they're going to take it out, and they can't say you're trying to steal it if it's available and you can show you were the one that raised the query in the first place.
Yes you are correct my Abbey pays 8% upto 2.5k, a slip on my behalf sorry!!!
I may onen up a HBOS Savings account, if i deposit the £2000 in, they may insert it as £20,000. happy days:D:rotfl:0 -

Hiya guys, well as i have said before.
Abbey Have written to me to say the money aint theirs it may be Birmingham Midshires sending me something by mistake.
I phoned Midshires to state the 'error' and they verbally informed me that it was not theirs and no record of a transaction of any money going to my ABBEY Account.
I wrote to Midshires to clarify the situation in writing last week,
Birmingham Midshires phoned up today to tell me they had carried out a search and still no missing or incorrect transaction.
I have asked for that in writing............................
I dont really know what to do appart from taking it to the police .. haa haa....
I have left it in my current accout in case someone tried to get it quickly, but it has been in my account for 4 weeks now sitting there with no one wanting it...........................
Can i actually do any more??:rotfl:0 -
Just transfer it to a savings account and don't touch it. If after 6 years no-one has asked for it, then the money is legally yours.
You could go to the Police as well and ask what timescales they have, as I'm sure I read once that someone took money to the police and after a few months it was there legally.0 -
Perhaps someone with a Birmingham Midshires account has accidentally entered your bank details when transferring some money? Or maybe you entered a competition a while ago and that must be your winnings...0

Bingo - thats it, i did indeed enter a competition , one of those comps with a selection of prizes ranging from a 1,000,000 top prize with a boobie prize of a special gem that looks like a piece of glass. that must be it!!!!;)
i can rest well now - thanks. lol
I also know what the other post means with someone accidently inserting my account details, but the money has been in my account now for 4 weeks.......... I would of been tracking the money down if it was me!!
Thanks guys!!:cool::rotfl:0 -

The credit would normally say Company Name £2,000 on your statement. What does your statement say on the line for that credit?0
