Erm... why? I fail to see how what BM describes would be illegal, or even an issue.

I agree to be honest how this will get me in court. Its not like it would be spent, and it would be available to abbey when they hopefully find out the money is missing..........anyhow

I have decided in the short term anyway that I will keep it in my current account( the account that abbey has deposited it in).
I am, considering writing to them, but again, I am a bit peed off to be honest that I have really tried to sort this out with no help from ABBEY, and I am now having to spend money( allbeit a small amount on phone calls and recorded delivery letters) to explain exactly the same as I have already done in Branch and over the telephone................

Thanks for all your comments this far though!!!!!

========= I have just composed a letter to ABBEY and sending to head office London, like I have said before I dont want the damn money if it ain mine==========================Lets see how they respond.

Yes, I second that. I would also send them a letter by recorded delivery (keeping a copy) explaining exactly what has happened.

and bill them for your admin time

    Hi all just an update.

Abbey have written back to me and indicated the 'ACCOUNT ADJUSTMENT' Is actually a payment from Birmingham misdshires account.

I do have a Birmingham Midshires account. I telephoned them and they stated that they have not transferred any money into my account and the funds must be mine..................
I know this cant be the case.

I have written to Birmingham Midhires head office to get that in writing.....
Abbey have verbally and in writing indicated that the money is not theirs
Midshires have verbally indicated it is not theirs, so i wil await more in writing...........................

Am I missing something. This is freaking me out. no one wants the darn money!!!! and i dare not have it

transfer it to a savings account in your name. keep it until they find out where it's from.

they say that they haven't transferred any money so if the money doesn't exist how can it be in your account?

You're being very patient by the way - the temptation must be really getting to you now

It seems that you have done all you can to give the money back to wherever it came from

    Hi.

I have an Abbey current account, I went online tonight and logged on to my account to find some money in there, which is not mine.

The description of the money is - Account Adjustment, totalling just under £2000.

I am good with money and know that this money is not mine, but wondered what I should do or could do..................................................

I know the money aint mine, but perhaps I could look after it a bit in a high interest account, until they realise.

Anyone had anything similar or have any ideas!!!!

I know I should probably ring them and come clean at the earliest time, but i fancy being a rebel........
    hee haa!!!
    Any thoughts??

Well I suppose you could withdraw it as cash and hand it in at the police station along with a written statement of how you came by it. Is it true that if no-one claims it within a certain time it becomes yours? You will need to check the fine print of the legislation of course but it might just be a way of solving your problem AND keeping the money. Just hope that the coppers are straight though.

Well if you don't want it and no-one else wants it, I'm a bit short this month.
