I have just finished work after doing day job Mon to Fri and night job Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun and today. Am absolutely knackered and getting to the point where I can't keep this up for much longer.
On a more positive note my sister drove down today to buy a horse so we went for lunch, only the second time in 6 years she has been to see me and I managed to find the most overpriced pretentious pub in all of Sussex to meet her in. Why is it that the more you pay for a beer (£3.25) the more useless the staff behind the bar. It was one of those places were they put serviette on the bar to put your drink on, which you then promptly pick up and walk away leaving it to drop on the floor.0 -
I didn't realise you had a night job Jim - what is it you do "by night"?0

I work at a local take away delivering food and working in the food prep area. I hate it and I find it degrading (not the work, there is nothing wrong with the job) but I spend most of the night delivering to people who live on benefits and spend more in one night on fast food then I budget for in a week, it's making very bitter when you see their free houses , plasma tv's and nice new cars and I have to struggle on two jobs to help pay for it, especially since the 10p tax rate was abolished and my tax burden has increased. Sometimes I can finish the evening on the verge of tears with not very pleasant thoughts.- nearly got political there. (see thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=24650009#post24650009 for my exact thoughts)
You may have been aware of my toilet saga- its not been flushing and filling the cistern properly since January. I have tinkered around with it endlessly and narrowed down the fault to a worn out diaphragm on the inlet valve. I managed to order the complete innards for the cistern a few weeks ago as I couldn't buy the part on its own, well it was delivered this morning and I have just spent 45 mins trying to get it to work. I may be bleeding (thumb on a broken tile) but I now have for the first time this year a fully functional flushing toilet.- and red thumb prints all over the bathroom.0 -
Well done you re the loo.
For some reason, Hong Kong Phooey came to mind....
By day he was a mild mannered janitor.....
I loved that dog
I can't work out whether it's worth switching either. The hassle always puts me off - we have 2 electricity meters which seems to make things very complicated for the utility companies. Plus, from previous experience it will snow in hell before I ever use British Gas again.0 -
It seems strange about customers particular preferences with utilities. I have been with BG since I moved here. I was on there standard rate for ages as I didn't know there where any other choices available and one day I called them up, the call was answered very quickly and I was put on there best deal straight way. I have never had any problems whatsover. Obvoiusly you wouldn't touch them with a barge pole and I can see how having 2 meters would really complicate things further. Good luck if you take the plunge. I hear that prices are set to drop soon so winter should be cheaper than last year, and I hope milder as well.0

In post 701 I mentioned that I was about to embark on (another) lifestyle change. I have been yo-yo dieting all year and I have done quite well but I have a problem with food , I cant stop bingeing. I have been a glutton since July and have put back on all the weight I lost and more, I started eating properly again on Saturday this lasted 3 days. I am going to kill myself if I go on like this, but I just can't help myself. I often feel low and I reach for the food and can eat to the point where I feel sick, and often will still not stop. I feel horrible when I do this but I still go back for more.
Its is very hard to stay on a diet when there is no one around to tell you off for being a pig, and as long as I am a pig there will be no one around either- this is the crux of my problem, I am bearing my sole- I am single because I am fat and I am fat because I am single.
I have tried group support thru weight watchers and found it too desperate and female and as I said before I couldn't keep a straight face after seeing Little Britain.
I have tried desperately to do it on my own and I can loose weight so my trousers are loose I just can't get to a stage were I can drop a size so get depressed and start eating again and end up putting back on all the weight I may have lost plus more, which is where I am now.
So today I have signed up with Bodytrim-

I know very little about it but I have to do something. It has cost me £55. This is £55 that I could have put to better use, but it's £55 that I now cant spend on the wrong food and because it is a lot of money to me I will have to do it. When it arrives I am going to follow it to the letter and I will not pick and choose the bits that I think will or wont work. If it says I must eat breakfast than I will eat breakfast whether I am hungry or not.
I really have to sort myself out before it gets to a stage were I can't or I have damaged my health.0 -
I would speak to the doctor personally. They can refer you to weight management groups and gym memberships and stuff and they can help with the whole pyschological aspect as well.

^^^^Good idea. Sometimes GPs can give funding for the gym or swimming etc. I know what you mean about the sticking point too - it gets frustrating. I've been a bad girl on holiday so trying to get back on the straight and narrow again, but tiredness, disorganisation and this horrible carpy weather are not helping!
Good luck to you and let us know how you're doing.
Is your evening job making any impact on your debt free date?
Edit to add, it says 6 meals a day! I reckon organisation will be the key to this - you can do it.0 -
worried jim - just read the bit about the plan - trust me. The only secret you need to know is:
Calories burnt must be > calories put in!
I have a weight problem - and have been following this rule for a few months and the lbs are shredding off.
I bought the iFitness app for my iphone which I use as my log book for the gym
Not meaning to put you down or anything. But I think you need to do a bit of soul searching for weight loss - and not pay for someone to do it for you!
Good luck - read your first post mate - hope you get sorted soon!I feel like the day he died0
