  • iamsc - they told you this on the phone - funny that 'cos then they can't prove they said that. DCA's will tell you all sorts of rubbish on the phone. Also they probably said may or could do - yes and I could fly to the moon tomorrow- doesn't mean I will.
Try not to worry too much - there is a factsheet on National Debtline - there are certain procedures they have to follow as well.
ooops sorry Jim for hijacking your thread - hope you are o.k

You are more than welcome. Does being hijacked mean I get to be tied up ?

I have been having car problems for about 18months now. My Honda's auto gearbox is on the way out and although drivable it was becoming uncomfortable pulling away and at some point it would give up altogether. You may also remember the problems I had at the beginning of the year with trying to get to my Grandfathers funeral. The tax is due in a week and it needs an mot which will include 4 new tyres on a car which I have no idea how much longer will keep going. I recently called my Mum to see if the offer of her car still stands but whilst she was giving me the lowdown on what been happening and before I could ask her for her car or some money (please) for a replacement she told me that they has scrapped it and got the £2k towards a new Nissan and also had the roof of the house replaced and were broke- obviously I didn't mention any of my problems.
So, I have been working like mad to save up for a new one and yesterday I splashed out £500 on a 1997 Astra Diesel , Its in very good condition and being an oil burner I should get twice the mpg so hopefully with in a year it will have paid for its self and its taxed and mot'd until the end of feb. I now have £32 until 1st October, I hope this works out.

    Fingers crossed it works out

I have just had mine MOT'd - phew, she passed with just 2 new tyres but still extra expense  In the next 12 months l, like you did, will have to decide whether to change her or keep my fingers crossed for another 12 months. I have a 60 mile daily commute with no public transport options so l have to rely on my car

The Story of My Life ...
When I was 14, I hoped that one day I would have a girlfriend.
When I was 16 I got a girlfriend, but there was no passion, so I decided I needed a passionate girl with a zest for life.
In college I dated a passionate girl, but she was too emotional. Everything was an emergency; she was a drama queen, cried all the time and threatened suicide. So I decided I needed a girl with stability.
When I was 25 I found a very stable girl but she was boring. She was totally predictable and never got excited about anything. Life became so dull that I decided that I needed a girl with some excitement.
When I was 28 I found an exciting girl, but I couldn't keep up with her. She rushed from one thing to another, never settling on anything. She did mad impetuous things and made me miserable as often as happy. She was great fun initially and very energetic, but directionless. So I decided to find a girl with some real ambition.
When I turned 31, I found a smart ambitious girl with her feet planted firmly on the ground and married her. She was so ambitious that she divorced me and took everything I owned.
I am now older and wiser, and am looking for a girl with big boobs.

Just had an argument with one of my credit card issuers. They have been receiving payments from Payplan since Nov and have just sent me a threatening letter out of the blue so I called them up and listened as they lied to me, then I shot them down and hung up. Telling me that they will effect my credit file for 10 years. I told him that it six years and he should seek out his supervisor and ask for proper training and if this is what he is told to say then why should I take any more of his "what ifs" and "this may happen" threats seriously. Joker.

Glad you could deal with it without raising your blood pressure Jim.

Have you sent the letters stating that you should be contacted in writing only? If so, why not write a nice theraputic letter complaining about them.

As a way of saving money I am investigating running my car on used vegetable oil for which I can get for free from the restaurant at work- they get through about 60 litres a week which is way more than I would ever use so I may be able to run the car for free in the summer and in the colder months mix it with 50% diesel. I can really see this attracting the ladies, "hello treacle, guess how much it costs me to run my car". Their knickers will be on the floor in seconds, even if I do stink of eau du chip fat. Its a harsh life.....
  • Is it as simple as that Jim? Im guessing you have to have your car altered in some way to run on used chip fat??

I only ask as I work in a restaurant and some guy comes once a week and takes ours away to use for the very same thing.

Seems a bit daft that the staff could get the benefit of free "juice" if possible?
