Brilliant about the weight loss Jim! At this rate you will soon be budgetting for smaller clothes! :)

I have a wardrobe full of clothes that are way to small for me at present, the plan is to shrink into all of them- thus negating any additional spending. Have not dropped a size yet, but have tightened my belt 1 notch. I aim to drop a size by the end of the month and hope to reach my target weight by August. I know its a lot to hope for but you have to set yourself goals- then you have something to judge your failures against !

At last some good news ! As of 01/02/09 my salary has been returned to the same level before it was cut in July. Its not a massive difference but it will help a great deal.
Just scrapped a £14 spend in Aldi together. Having no money sure does help to loose weight !

Hey, thats really good news about the salary Jim. Even if its not much its better than nothing!

I have stopped trying on the clothes which are too small for me - its too depressing. I think you really need to lose just over a stone for any difference in clothing - I think its around a stone to drop a size as well. Exercise and toning up helps too.

  • I really felt for you when I read your post. I am only one year into repaying my debts on a DMP, so you feelings are the feelings I had not so long ago. I still have moments of shame and panic now but then I come on here and kind people make me feel better :). I would echo what others have said - which is please stop worrying and continue to follow through the good work you have now started to tackle the situation. None of my family or my OH know about my debt and this is the only place I can talk about it to. I am just to embarrassed and ashamed to admit it to anyone else.

Keep in touch so we know how you go x

I think its great that like me you share your financial failure, then success with everybody else- except those who know you. I can never describe the feelings of comfort that I have got from this thread, posting and reading has become part of my day now, and all the time new peeps drop by (like yourself) to say hello and maybe share something about themselves. Although the situations that bought us together aren't the best there really is saftey in numbers- and encouragement !

Just noticed this thread has been viewed 20059 times ! I am going to change my name to popular Jim !

Just had a call from BT- one of those text calls, message from ccs collections asking me to call them. Got the message at 10.10pm. Is it me or are they a bit on the cheeky side? Or is this what I can expect now on dmp- hassle for more money (haven't got any yet ). I don't mind being contacted, after all I owe an awful lot of money but after 10pm, seems a bit underhanded to me.

Just wanted to say I'm glad to hear about the pay, and IKWYM about being broke having a slimming effect. Been there, done that, got the tee shirt - but sadly I have now outgrown it :D.
Can you get any mystery shopping at a nice restaurant maybe? ;)
Or are you going to live off porridge for a while (one of my favourites and seriously worth considering for being cheap, nourishing and filling). And did you ever see Weezl's thread about living off some incredibly small sum per day? She also managed to ensure she and her OH ate healthily. The other thread I would recommend is MBaz's brilliant one about living off £20 for a month. HTH - I have probably mentioned them before, they are two of my favourites.
