I feel even worse now I have seen the truth, what am I going to do?
Water rates, you would almost certainly be better off on a meter. I live alone and mine went £29 to £10 after getting a meter.
Groceries seem high. Try shopping at Aldi or buying Asda own brands. You could halve that and still eat nice food.0 -

Thanks former spice !
Not enough space on my water pipe to fit a metre after barthroom refit. but i do qulaify for a £10 discount because I asked for one and they are unable to fit it- that discount is included in the above figures.
I do use Aldi for items like salad and veg, eg cucummber in teco £1.24 , 89p in aldi and its not as bad as I thought it was. I am getting very frustrated with tescos, as I am price focused I am checking there prices and they have a habit of increasing by 50p one week then reducing 40p the next and telling me what agreat offer they have.0 -
Hi Jim,
Have just read your thread from the start and am really inspired by you. You seem to have really made some big changes in a short time and it is very motivating.
Halfway through, I logged onto Payplan's webpage and filled in their form for debt advice. I have never actually spoken to anyone about my debt so am apprehensive. All my payments are up to date but I am stuck on the paying the minimum only wagon. I've had my head in the sand for way too long and know there are ways I can budget better. Half of me is terrified that Payplan will recommend a DMP and the other half of me is terrified that they won't!!!!
Sounds crazy I know!:o
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that your getting to grips with your debt and your weight is really inspiring. You are right - they do go hand in hand (or should that be hand in cake???)
Will be following this thread to see how you get on........
Congrats so far.....:beer:Proud to be dealing with my debts

Hi Jenevieve, welcome ! I am so very glad that you have taken inspiration and contacted payplan, I remember i did mine in the eve and by 8.30 next morning had a call, I can honestly say its one of the best and most important things I have ever done. Please let us all you know how you've got on, and if you want to loose some weight at the right time then you can kill 2 birds with one stone !0

Hi Jim
Just wanted to say well done to sticking to your new lifestyle, it can be really hard the first couple of weeks! I've tried and failed on numerous occasions:plilian1977 wrote: »Re the Indian Takeaway - try this: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=816965
And I fully recommend the 'indian takeaway' lilian1977 suggested, it's amazing. Ended up doing this 2 nights in a row at hubbys request and he doesn't normally like my home cooking :rotfl:I've now got a couple of batches in freezer for the next indian food cravings :TDebt [STRIKE]£52,656.60[/STRIKE]_pale_£41273.42:)

hi worried jim. if you go to an ethnic food shop they will have some quite pokey stir in sauces so you can make up some curry yourself....much cheaper and healthier for you!!

I'll be watching out for more of your story. Maybe I'll start my own diary, it seems to help people so much!
