Blimey Jim - all change!
Good for you with your new life change.
I'm at the prevaricating stage. Not sure what to tackle first so actually end up tackling nothing! Perhaps me recognising this will help....
Either way, I'll be watching your progress and willing you on.
Some years ago I went to WW. First meeting there, the leader (a stick thin, humourless lady) said gravely "once a ww, always a ww". Felt like slitting my throat then and there at the thought of going to those godawful meetings forever!
Best of luck - we're all watching YOU0 -
well here we are on day 3 of the new me. no cravings no cheating and feeling good. agian have made a huge chicken tikka salad for lunch, it was so nice yesterday that when I got home I had it again !
I saw a repaet of Panarama whilst eating last night about American healthcare foor the poor, I will never compalin about anything ever again. That poor (poor being the word) woman with 5 children and 3 types of cancer- was this the American dream ? I feel so sorrow for her family.0 -
Well done Jim. It's funny isn't it, since joining this site and getting my fianances under control....I now have the motivation to get every area of my life under control. Including my weight.
Adds some weight to the theory that overspending, overeating etc etc is closely linked to our emotional state.
Good luck on your weight loss mission. Mine is in my sig and I'll be watching how you get on!LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0 -

Hi Jim - I've just been reading through your thread from the start, wow - you have made some massive life changes, well done you!!:T
As regards the weight loss, I would advise nipping to your GP and asking them to refer you to a dietitian. You should then be able to attend a weight reduction clinic - just you and the dietitian, I promise you it's nothing like weightwatchers!!
They will look at your diet as it currently is and will be able to advise you of some small changes you can make to help you lose weight. They won't put you on some crazy diet or anything, as they are trained professionals who know what works and what people can stick to. They will also weigh you on each visit, and may measure around your waist, which many people find works as a very good motivational tool.
Best of luck! xx
PS make sure you go to a 'dietitian', not a 'nutritionist'. ANYONE can claim they are a nutritionist, you don't need any qualifications, whereas by law you must have a degree to become a dietitian.0 -
Hi Jim
Can't believe I am on this site most days and have only just come across your thread. What a journey. I'm so glad things seem to be looking up for you - save the posts to a memory stick so when you are finally debt free (and I have no doubt you will be one day) you can look back and see just how far you've come. You sound a much stronger person than you did on your first post.
You have inspired loads of us on here, including me. In fact I'm sure I must have bank charges from First Direct too, so that's what I am going to be spending tomorrow doing - getting stuff together and sending the first letter off to them. Did they just tell you how much you had accumulated in charges, or did you work it out from all your past statements?YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
Hi Jim,
Just caught up with your thread again and wanted to say that you are a real real inspiration to me .worried_jim wrote: »we have a starbucks in the building and they do a masive hot choclate with whipped cream. I have chained myself to the desk.
As for the above comment, well that nearly saw my tea all over my laptop, as I laughed.
I am surprised at how many of us are in debt are also over weight. Are there any skinny DFW's? I used to do SW but have stopped going to classes as can't justify the weekly fee. So, I'm going to try to use the basis of the plan for my eating, but not feel guilty if I don't stick 100%. Think that was my downfall in the past - have a bad day, eat rubbish and think blown it now, may as well carry on till next weigh in and start again next week.
Jim, I wish you all the best with your weight loss. You seem to have managed to come so far since your first post, I just know that you will soon be changing your handle to "Slim Jim".Sealed Pot Challenge Member 015 - Target £50 (2015=£70; 2014=£74.40; 2013=£61.76; 2012=£82.50)
