Found this: http://www.diabetesforums.com/forum/lo-fi/t-25998.html (hope the link works, I found it by googling 'vision improved diabetics'). It seems you aren't the only one to improve though it may not last . You would think they would find a way to harness whatever it is that causes the improvement - what a difference to people's lives that would make! My sight also improved when I was treated for hypothyroidism - in my case I no longer struggle to keep focused though I still need glasses/lenses. Just seen your weight loss elsewhere - well done!

How do you manage using dailies as monthlys? Don't they tear? Am thinking of switching to dailies as I haven't adapted well to monthlies and apparently dailies are thinner and therefore more comfortable...

I just use them the same. In the past year I have only ever torn one. You are right that they are a little bit thinner, but this makes them even more comfortable and easier to wear-bonus !

I'm getting more & more likely to try them...! I also looked up the link you posted and it's helpful.
How have you been today? I'm assuming you took the day off work and made the most of a chance to relax :)

Been at home today. Feel nausea at the moment, just eaten roast pork, broccoli and cauliflower but feel like I haven't eaten all day.
Went to see Avatar this morning but had to leave the cinema as wasn't feeling too good about halfway through, not to sure why as I had a good breakfast before leaving the house. When I got home my blood sugar was low so I had lunch straight away which made me feel better. I have been advised that it will take awhile to get use to this and the medication, I don't want to carry sweets around with me just in case as I'll just eat them anyway. I think I am just craving Chinese/Kebab/Curry and will feel better soon as the cravings pass. Have also started taking multi vitamins. I wanted to go back to work tomorrow but I feel like !!!!!!. In the good old days I would have popped to 24hr Tesco and got some biscuits etc. Have a telephone review with my Dr from the hospital tomorrow. Eyesight still perfect.

    Jim,

If I wanted something to drink I would carry a bottle of wine or some homemade lemonade around with me. If I wanted something to quench my thirst but that I wouldn't want to drink I would carry plain water.

Do you have the equivalent in sweets. Something that is sweet but that you aren't particularly keen on. I really think it would be a good idea to carry something.

  • My friend is diabetic and always splits her breakfast up- she may have cereal first thing and something like toast mid morning- she finds this keeps her blood levels 'topped up' throughout the morning.

If she goes out she takes a couple of rounds of bread and butter with her.

She carries snacks such as cereal bars around with her which may be better and a bit healthier than sweets.

I guess it's about trying things out and finding what works best for you over time.

Thanks for the tips. I have spoken with the clinic today and they have reviewed my medication and halved one of the doses. I am to keep monitoring my blood and call back on Monday.I told them anout the changes to my diet and the nurse advised I was doing the right thing and over time it may result in me coming off one of the tablets all together.
I also told her about my eyesight improving and this could be a reult of having the correct amount of glucose in my blood. Had another good nights sleep.

Hopefully your blood glucose will settle but it does take a while. I hope you get another good nights sleep tonight. Do you have some form of glucose beside your bed in case you go hypo while you sleep?
