Who is passing on the VAT Rate Cut? A "Name and Shame" Thread

Maplins Electronics have put there prices UP 2.5% and then added 15% VAT
There Headoffice state that they have reduced some high price promotional items to compensate, but if you dont want to buy there promotional items you are out of pocket and they are better off by 2.5%.
Shameful!!!0 -
Well it is my understanding that Mamas and Papas are not passing on the rate cut either!! Having ordered over £1000 worth of nursery furniture in their sale, which was a 10% reduction, I queried about the cut in VAT. They stated that it had been passed on in the sale. I pointed out that if this was the case could it not be construed that their sale was actually 7.5% if the VAT reduction had been applied??

Maplins are well known for high prices though. I don't condone places doing this, but there are some companies that are well knowing for having very high prices, and sometimes you need to shop there for the convenience of getting what you want quickly, but blaming Maplins for ripping you off is like blaming a dog for urinating on a lampost: It can't help being a dog.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
You may want to move John Lewis from The Goodies list to the The Baddies list, I've been watching the price of a few certain items and the price did not change after VAT was reduced. If anything if they say they are passing on the cut but in fact they aren't perhaps they should be put in a bad category of their own.
One thing I was watching was the HP EX470 Home server, price before VAT change £399, price after £399! If anything most competitors prices on this item has dropped after HP brought out a new model.0 -
Coopers of Stortford refuse to reduce their prices despite the VAT reduction.0

I have just looked at the price history of this item and on the 25th November it was reduced to £390 from £399. I can only assume this was a mistake on the website or a ticket in a shop that hadn't been changed.0 -
I can only assume it's the Bristol store that has not changed some of their prices, since it was still £399 when they opened after the Christmas break. The EX470 seems to have dropped off their website, probably because HP is bring out the EX480/5. I was hoping it might be in the clearance but no chance, still same price.0

Maybe we can get a list going here... I'll start with a few:The GoodiesTelecoms
- BT - Will be cutting line rental accordingly and issuing refunds if line rental already prepaid
- Plusnet - Will be cutting subscription costs from 1st December
- O2 - Will be passing on VAT rate cuts from next week, and will issue refunds on request of the difference on "more expensive" line rental already paid in advance
- Currys - Currently showing pre-cut prices on shelf, but discounting by 2.5% at the till with immediate effect
- John Lewis - Will pass on the cuts (thanks pdotie for info)
- Lidl - Will reduce all affected prices on 1st December. Will also reduce non-VAT-rated baby items by 2.5%. (thanks davy_fulla for info)
The BaddiesHigh Street Stores
- Poundland - Will keep prices at £1 per item for "customer simplicity"

Argos refunded the overpaid VAT on a pre-existing order and are amending their catalogue prices in the stores at the point of sale.0 -
