Who is passing on the VAT Rate Cut? A "Name and Shame" Thread
Comments

Good evening, I would like to shame Tescos for not reducing the cost of their fuel. The price previous to the VAT decrease was 89.9, funny it is still 89.9 even though they said that VAT was reduced last Saturday. Yet another 2.5% to the massive profits they already make!!!0

Don't forget that 2p per litre duty was added to Fuel.....0 -
I dont know if its been added but morrisons and aldi are passing the new rate on, but in morrisons i dont think the tills take it off straight away as i bought a keyboard and the shelf said £9.79 but the till said £10 so i think they need to re program the tills0

I went to maplin today to buy a bluetooth adaptor for my father, I got home and checked the receipt and it stated that the V.A.T. had ben applied at the new rate of 15%.
As I had bought one for myself 2 weeks ago I checked the previous receipt and noticed that the V.A.T was 17.5% though the total price was identicle to the new price, so it seems that Maplin have upped their prices so the total cost is the same for the consumer, no V.A.T. saving there.
I wonder if this is what Mr, Brown had in mind to pass the savings to the retailer not the consumer?
Doubt I'l be back.
Thought I'd warn everyone.0 -
Most people will buy the cheapest product from the cheapest place. It does not matter whether the rate has been applied. I went to Maplin a few weeks back for a new PC lead and it was £35, the same product was £70 in PC world!! No VAT drop was going to make it cheaper than Maplins.
It does not matter!! Just buy the cheapest product from the cheapest place. Maplins prices are good enough for them not to worry.
Today I found a Sat Nav for £50 nin Asda, hubby wanted one, not seen that anywhere else for that price, so I bought it. It went through the till cheaper but I would have bought it anyway as it was the cheapest place I had found one.
Good grief. Why would you want to stop shopping at the cheapest place just because they had not reduced ther prices? They are still the cheapest aren't they? That is just ridiculous!!!!!0 -
Purchased goods at Go Outdoor store and asumed price reduction would occur at the till - but it didn't! When questioned the manager said they were only reducing some special offer items. Very poor.0

I know for a fact that the prices in Maplan are the same as before the cut!
They say its not firms policy to cut prices due to the VAT cut0 -
Sainsburys are but the price on the sel could be more than the actual price of the item0
