I've read a few posts over the years in the time I've been reading this forum, but have never come across one which includes soooo many first time posters, not anywhere near the number. Funny that !!

Also amazing how those who have never used the services of Ryanair seem to know soooo much about how the airline operates and what type of service can be expected.

Isn't it easy to join the BANDWAGON and have no opinions of your own !

The fact is that those who finish up paying unnecessary charges because they are too stupid to play by the rules are subsidising £1 flights for the rest of us. Thanks folks!

...and this is exactly what the banks did with charges (ie subsidise those who did not go overdrawn by making big charges on those who did), something which MSE has fought all the way - please explain the difference!
  • So simple . Do not fly with ryan air.

We have avoided buying 5 years at 24 return tickets since an overweight rip off at dublin.

We are the customer, ryan air have forgotten this.

I live abroad part of the year with the consequence that many people (mostly family) come to visit for "cheap holidays". We've tried them all and whilst cheaper flights may be available "down South" this is not true of those who choose to live in the God-forsaken North (using Manchester/LBA/Newcastle etc). None of them are cheap - why don't the airlines just ALL quote an all-in price per flight (or return flight). We're not idiots - we know 99p flights just don't exist!!!! Why not be truthful???? Also, what happened to that big publicity about all carriers giving truthful information on costs ...... What happened there? I've just booked flights again yesterday and we still had to go through the circus that is called "cheap flight" booking procedures (and finished up paying amounts which bore no relation to the initially-advertised costs, despite choosing no insurance, no meals, no golf-clubs, etc, no speedy boarding pass, etc. What a waste of time for all concerned. Just be truthful airlines, and we'd trust you all more.
Also what about the well-publicised "join our members clubs - we'll give you discounts on future flights"? Has anyone realised just how many flights PER YEAR each individual has to book to achieve a "free flight" (plus off course each free flight then has the usual add-on booking procedures, costs, etc). Something for nothing? I think not!!!!!
    PS: not just Ryanair either!!!!!!!

    Agreed

It seems to be the cool thing to knock Ryanair at the moment because everyone else is.

In some regional areas Ryanair have opened up routes to areas not served before or undeserved, what was there before Ryanair and the other lo-cos? Answer in the case of many regional airports. Absolutely nothing

Charter/Scheduled airlines are just as bad with meal and seat charges and they tend to be even more expensive than the lo-cos.....Thats even if they fly from the airport you want to go

So yeah lets return to the days of charter airlines and scant schedule services where people had to pay over the odds for a crap meal and 20kg of luggage....but hey....why do that when we can attack Michael O'Leary?

For instance if I booked a return easyjet quoted me £74.99 for Budapest to london, however if I booked a single it worked out for the same flight (with their currency rate) £87.99 - £13 more expensive and you have no choice but to pay as you can't get the english price despite paying in pounds on a credit card!!

You can get the £ Sterling price, it is in Martin's guide

    Never pay in foreign currencies.

    • If you book a one-way easyJet fare to the UK from another country, you pay in the local currency, eg, euros if flying from Spain. Yet always pay in pounds, as the exchange rate used is usually hideous.

To do this, select an outbound flight as well as the return you want, then your return flight will be in pounds. Once you’re on the next page, simply press ‘remove’ to remove your outbound flight from your list of flights, so you’ve only now got the return leg from the other country booked, and it’s still in sterling.
Plus, you don’t pay any foreign loading fees on your plastic."

What is this 5 adult booking for then?

    1. MR ADT 2. ADT 3. ADT 4. ADT 5. ADT
    PAYMENT DETAILS
    *********5.00 CHF Total Fare
*********0.00 CHF Taxes, Fees & Charges
    *********5.00 CHF Total Paid

and actually works out at about 90p each, so I saved 9p on your figure.

Easiest way to put it for all those people who think these flights don't exist.

Step One: Log onto the Ryanair website
Step Two: In the top left corner you will see the latest promotion. Click the small print at the bottom which says 'Click here for more routes'
Step Three: Scroll through the list until you find your departing airport and it will show a list of the flight prices from. Eg: My airport, Newcastle has Dublin from GBP 5.00 and Girona from GBP 33.86 (not included in the offer!)
Step Four: Above your airport it will tell you the exclusion dates within the months of the offer.
Step Five: Search for appropiate cheap flights within the included dates (not every day is guaranteed as of course the cheap flights sell out)
Step Six: Book...with no insurance, no luggage, no priority boarding and pay with Visa Electron or Entropay.
Step Seven: Voila! You now have your very cheap Ryanair flight!

Please be very careful with MoneySaving Newbie comments that have a low post count, some of them aren't actually double checking what they say with the relevant websites.

All of the budget airlines are being unfair to a generation of people who are not computer literate. I was overjoyed when Aer Lingus reopened their route to Shannon. Having HAD to fly Ryan Air at least once a month for a year was a nightmare and their advertised prices are a con. I will pay more if necessary to avoid flying with them, although recently I compared prices for a weekend in Ireland and Ryan Air was a lot more expensive than Aer Lingus.
