    Hi

I am thinking of visiting this detox clinic to give up smoking: http://www.newwaysclinic.com/nicotine.html

Has anyone tried this treatment (they claim you will stop after 1 hr)? Its not cheap costs about £365 but its probably worth it if does take away your desire to smoke.

    Thanks in advance.
  • I keep trying, I've got patches and a certain amount of willpower but I still have the occasional cigarette. I 've managed to go a few days at a time without one, lost the craving to have one first thing in the morning and I now don't smoke at work even when I'm with friends that do. I know having the odd one probably isn't a good idea but eventually I hope to quit altogether, it' doesn't help that DH is a heavy smoker but then if I ask him for one he moans so that doesn't happen very often. Perhaps if I come onto this thread every time I feel the cravings coming on it'll help.

Still battling with the dreaded weed, at this rate will probably get there in box with nice brass handles on the sides, must persevere.

Anyway, to the point, by way of one mix-up, and a free offer through a book provider, I have got two copies of Allan Carr's 'Easy way to stop smoking' to give away to deserving and interested people who are committed to the cause, completely free at no cost whatsoever! Plus there may be a bonus for people who miss getting the book, sorry I only have two - first come, first served. Please email me if interested. :D

Happy St Paddy's day  Blast - the guinness has run out already! :rotfl:

Keep going sweety. I know what you mean, about one everynow and again not seeming so bad. I stopped completely for 8 weeks, then had one on a drunken night out and seem to be having atleast one most fridays and saturdays. Which probably doesnt seem a problem but it is to me because in my mind im not a total non smoker.
Do come onto the thread when you feel the urge to smoke. I think it definatly helps. Seems to have gone quiet on here lately so would be good to have the smoke free company!! Chin up, and all the best, sez x

P.s. loz and ember.... where are you guys?! Would love to catch up, and am keen to hear if you are still "non smokers". If not then dont worry, but would like to hear how your battles going. Hope youre both well, x

    I've been Money Tipped!
My mum was told last week she has breast cancer at 58. She has smoked 20-30 a day for 38 years.
Even after being told this terrible news she will not have it that smoking could possibly have anything to do with it. This makes me really sad. I want her to stop desperately but we just end up arguing about it.
I bough her some of the hand rub gel and gum, but she does not seem to have any will power.

Bootman, You have to understand how difficult it is. My self i cant understand alcoholism but i can imagine that once youre there in its grips its incredibly difficult to break free. Its the same for smokers. I would imagine that this is one of the most frightening times in your mums life, and in times like that smokers rely greatly on the little cigarrette crutch.
I understand that your so anxious but please dont be cross with her. Support her, and maybe in time, perhaps the shock may wear off and she might be ready to quit. I dont think you could ever force someone to do it. Its hard enough when you have the will and the want to do it for yourself.

Dont fret sweety. Keep supporting her (and i hope she gets better soon).

Sez - I may not have won the battle by far yet, but I'm still committed to going that one step further, little by little - it's not much I know, but I keep on trying and trying again.

Bootman, I 100% agree with sez, and this is a time to support your mum, no matter that she smokes for the moment, try to help her through what is going to be a very bad time - I really hope and pray that she comes through ok - if caught early, breast cancer is not the killer that it once was. Just give her a hug from all of us ok?

Shariatlanta, don't beat yourself up, you are doing very very well, especially as you are with a heavy smoker - don't worry, those final occasional cig's will go away on their own eventually, when you finally realise how pointless even they are!

Can't believe no-one is interested in freebies I've offered - my own copy of Allan Carr's book is very well thumbed as I read and re-read parts of it frequently. No strings attached - honest!
  • Hello, I had hypnotherapy too and so far I have not smoked for 162 days, saving £810. :j The hypnotherapy was expensice £200 byt he gave me £50 off when I told him I was a health care worker. :T

I came accross a piece of softward that I got free for my pda through the HP website. The softward is called 'my last cigarette' and is produced by mastersoft mobile solutions (it looks like it can cost $19.99 but there is a free trial at http://www.clickapps.com/Pocket_PC_My_Last_Cigarette_Free_Trial although i cant say how the trial works).
It tracks your progress and savings (its a US product so I do have to swap a dollar sign for a pound sign in my head). I found it very encouraging.

    Hi Guys,

Just a quick update to tell you I have gone over a month without smoking now. I really feel better for it, and I've started to save a little bit of money too.

If I can do it, anyone can.
