  • :j You're all going great guns, by the heavens we'll beat the weed into submission yet. Ember, good luck with the grovelling - your hubby sounds like a sensible person, so he'll soon forgive and forget I'm sure! Hope the relaxation helps also. Quietgirl, you should rename yourself Quitgirl - you're a genius! Loz and Sez, true supporters - keep going - please! :grouphug:

Am half way through Neil Casey, interesting so far, although I do get the feeling that he's made a book out of a pamphlet - still, will persevere. Phase 1 of 'cutting down' is going very well - with luck, I'll soon be swamped with the phrase 'Give up now' going round and round my head! :D

Ditto on the chocolate Lovingitifitsabargain! I have developed a relationship with frozen mars bars  I am on 'one' a day at the moment. My little treat with a cuppa when I settle down to relax. Why frozen you may ask, well....they take longer to eat and I seem to have a daft urge to try to crack my teeth as I bite in to the frozen caramel bit. I don't worry about the psychology of what I am doing, I just enjoy lol

Same here Ember re the chocs, and I haven't even actually quit yet! Don't think it's worth worrying about though, too much of a good thing palls eventually (we hope!). For me, it's not a problem as I'm only 7 stone dripping wet and over 5ft 6ins tall, although when I gave up after hypnotherapy I did put 2 stones on over 6 months - don't care - I love my chocs :D

Ditto honey, I'm 8 1/2 stone wet and just under 5'8" tall so an extra pound or so on my athletic frame wouldn't hurt, mind you I've had the thing about frozen mars bars for weeks now and no extra weight. I think my bizarre lifestyle keeps the weight off lol :p I seem to live on the M6 at the moment :p

Last thing you need to worry about is weight Sez, just concentrate on keeping off the weed!! Take up gym, or just walk regularly to keep the metabolism moving at a pace - you'll be ok. Congrats on the forthcoming marriage, you'll make a lovely non-smoking, non-smelly housewife (!?)

Sez, I just remembered, posted a little while ago ref resetting SilkQuit - got a minute to advise me how to do it please?

    Much and many thanks.

Not always great to be so slim hon, not when you are in a clothes store buying a skirt and you have to buy one for a 14 year old as they are the only one's that fit your tiny waist :p

Don't worry about putting weight on, weight can be lost, cancer usually can't!

Read THIS Ember, and anyone else who runs out of nasal spray/ develops cravings.

Have any of you been watching the Paul McKenna thing on SKY?

This is a technique for beating cravings. The program is about food, but it apparently works for smoking too.

Not that I'm a fat ba*t*rd you understand - but a few pounds less would get me up the hills faster on my bike!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Still doing the 'cutting down slowly' and making slow but sure progress - was almost able to breathe normally all the way through my 20min morning walk to work this morning! Normally I'm desperately trying to get air in and out of my lungs near the end of this, virtually gasping.

Finished Neil Casey's The Nictotine Trick last night, at first I was horrified by what he was saying - if true, it seemed that patches, gum, sprays etc were only prolonging the agony. However, on re-reading a couple of bits to try and absorb them properly, I became slightly doubtful of the 'complete' truth of his basic statement about the way cigarettes work, there seem to be some contradictions here and there, and he quite unnecessarily uses some scaremongering tactics that aren't directly relevant to his basic idea (why bother if his basic idea stands on its own?) - would really appreciate comments from any other people who have read the book please?

    HOW I EVERYONE DOING!!! :D
