do you have any children together?
what have you been contributing to the household expenses eg half mortage and bills?
A friend went through this and got £5k as she had been paying in half the costs and the property had increased by £10k so she got half but it is likely that the property has probably reduced in value in the last 12 months so this may not apply0 -
no I am 19 he is 28. his bills come to about £850 a month as he owns the house. I paid £350 a month. and I paid for sky for 6 mnoths (which he wants to keep as he has paid for the last 6) and we were going on holiday in jan but now I doubt i can afford it. I'll have to register on council housing list whilst sleeping on a friends sofa. but I have paid £350 for 12 months. as well as buying things like squash bags for him etcMoney money money.

£350 a month seems a fair amount of 'rent'. Personally I'd just walk away. Its unlikely you'd be legally entitled to anything, and I don't think many would argue that you are morally entitled to anything.
If you hadn't been living with him, how much would it have cost you a month to live in a similar property?Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
You can probably get a room in a shared house for £350 a month with bills included. I don't think you have any claim on his house as you were just paying 'rent' really...0

To be honest it is very unlikely you will be entitled to anything but you need to seek the advice of a solicitor. You only have a claim if you paid half the mortgage or paid for the kitchen to be redone etc. It sounds like you paid towards your keep and if I was you I would just move on instead of getting in bitter wars with your ex. If you are not entitled to legal aid it could cost you, so go to your local cab who maybe able to refer you to a solicitor offering free half an hour session.0

If you were given half the profit, would you be prepared to take half the loss aswell.?
Need to have a think, is this a short term split..(ie a few days away, prob after the weekend), or is this for real...0 -
His house will have fallen in value in the last year. How much negative equity will you need to pay him to leave?
You're entitled to nothing really. You're 19, the world is your oyster. The council aren't interested in housing singles, the lists are huge. Sort out a shared house and save like mad to get some savings behind you.0 -
I really can't see what you'd be entitled to... you paid less than half the costs of living there and it's not like the property increased in value over the last year! I've paid more than £350 in rent for a house share so think of it as a years cheap rent and get on with your life. If my DH and I were to split then I'd not expect half of what the house is worth - He paid into it way before he met me after all! But Legally I'd be entitled to more than half probably as by May we'll have a child together. Would I expect him to pay me for the pleasure of my company over the last few years if we split up? No of course not!

You're young - move on

Cut your ties with him and move on, if he has asked you to go there is no point in prolonging the agony for either of you.
You aren't due anything from him, and unfortunately these things happen, be grateful there are no children involved.Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
Sorry I did actually pay half of the rent half of the energy bills etc, I just meant the things on top such as car insurance I didn't contribute to.
I also sorted out the default on his credit card, I paid his speeding fine and I sorted all financial matters out. I did also tax the car which was given to "us" for free yes it is in his name but I wasn't sure with that.
I'm not after anything I just wanted to know where I stood as I have contributed to the house equally. I paid for half of the bath when it broke, I bought the dining room table, I have bought a few things for the house.Money money money.
