MMD: Would you get into debt to grant a friend’s dying wish?

Hi, I totally would do everything in my power to fulfil the dying wish of my friend. If I didn't have much money I would sell stuff on ebay, get a second job, ccut out little luxuries in my shopping etc and shop around for flight bargains! Like many people have said previously it doesn't have to be done immediately, giving the opportunity to save up. I would rather get in debt over it or work hard to get the extra cash then feel I had let my friend down even if I knew that my friend wouldn't mind me not doing it if I couldn't afford it!0

If you get deeper into debt just to satisfy some crackpot wish then you need to TAKE NOTICE of the stuff on the MSE site. Wake up and smell the coffee - we're in a recession!
I'd keep the ashes and take them if I ever happened to visit the Grand Canyon in the future (when out of debt and can afford the luxury!) If I never made it there then I'd have to apologise to them in the afterlife - I'm sure they'd understand!0 -

:a Yes I Would Put Myself In To £2000 More Debt If Thats What My Friends Dying Wish Was. Nothing Should Stop You From Doing What Your Best Friend Wanted Not Even Money, Get Another Part Time Job Or Something!0

Whether you die happy or unfulfilled, you are still dead at the end of the day.
So no, I wouldn't."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -
No friend would want you to get into debt for them, so no I wouldn't.0

The basic dilemma seems to be: Doing what my dying friend/close family member asked me to do - unaware of the difficulty that would cause me
versus;
Me wanting to do what my dying friend/close family member asked me to do, but significantly increasing my debt problems (which my dying friend/close family member was unaware of) in the process.
The basic dilemma seems to be solvable by asking; Would my dying friend/close family member have asked me or expect me to do something that will significantly increase my debt problems had they known about my debt problems?
The probable answer, presuming they cared for me as a friend/close family member, is that; No, they wouldn’t have. Hence I would not get into (further) debt to grant a friend/close family member’s dying wish. However I might personally carry out my friend/close family member’s wishes once my debt problems have been resolved - Carrying out their wishes is a strong stimulus for doing so; or I might see if a more economical way to have their ashes scattered is possible. One way or another I see friendship and family as helping one another; not hindering one another by wanting further problems to develop.0 -
No I wouldn't grant the person their dying wish! In fact I'd tell them to stop taking the !!!!, and tell them that if they don't shut up about it, I'll use their ashes urn as an ashtray!0

If you were to take them wonder what the customs at the airport have to say, when you tried to explain that the bag of dust you had was innocent.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

It's not Sylvester's comments on the ashes to Grand Canyon that are worthy of picking up, but his opinion of The Money Savers' Arms. So we are all hypocrites and eager to judge, eh? Sad comment. I have been grateful for tips and have enjoyed many amusing comments from other money-savers.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0
