Good morning everyone!!
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far. We had a little dusting of snow this morning, which is the most we have had since Sunday!!! It's just not fair!!
I am hoping to ask a question (or 2) and would really appreciate any thoughts you guys have - kind of pick your experienced, knowledgeable brains - I know you'll help if you can, coz you are all lovely (have I done enough creeping?)
Well, I have decided to apply for the A&L current account via one of the cashback sites (£50 hopefully) and would also be looking to use their 0% overdraft facility (subject to being subjected etc). I was wondering how many of you lovely peeps have changed current accounts and moved DD's? The bank offer to do it all for you - or would I be better keeping control and doing them bit by bit? I know that once done I will be ok, but having been with the same bank since I was about 5 - I'm not too sure of the best way forward!!
Thanks in advance, Nats xstart = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225

I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!0 -
Nat,
I changed to A&L a couple of years ago, they did all the DDR stuff and were very good with it, really efficient. I did change back as I missed my old internet banking but A&L have improved there's since.
Now the thing is I had vouchers for £100 if you introduce a new account for you and the new account, so I got all my friends to join and earned a few hundred
I may still have a voucher and even though they only give £50 now they are still honouring the old ones, and I have a mate at work with a A and L account that would recommend you so you both get £100.
So I'll see if I can find the voucher and let you know incase you want to go that route
HAve a good weekend honey, and it took me 2 flippin hours to get home last night in the snow (10 miles) I've now officially had enough of it  I'll send it to you okLBM- finally kicked in 16/12/08 @ [strike]£41,862 [/strike] £0.00/ DFD- 24/12/13

Hi OBNW!!!
Sorry you are suffering with the snow - we had the grand total of about 1/2 an inch last night. At the moment I am at work and apparently it is snowing about 4 miles either side of us!!! I've missed it again!!
A&L are offering £100 if you sign over your DD's to them. But, if I can help you or your friend access some free cash, I'll gladly do so!!!
Thanks for the info - just don't want it to all go pear-shaped and start undoing my (not so hard) work!!
I hope you have enough snow to go outside and enjoy - and that it has all gone by Monday morning so you can get to work easier!

Hi Rags - the snow has all gone - honestly it was hardly enough to get excited about. I would love to have 6 or 8" of snow to play in - but we ahve had virtually no snow at all this week. Soooo jealous of anyone who has had some. We didn't even have enough to make a snowman over 12" tall!
I 'spose we should consider ourselves lucky (yeah right!) that we haven't had any - BUT I WANT SNOW!!! (I just revert to a 5 year old lol)

Hey Nat!
I did the A&L offer and they were really easy to deal with - I would trust them to swap over all the DD's they get a list which then send to you to confirm which to transfer so if you tick yes then you can change your mind afterwards! Go for the £100 offer - I have to say I got refused O/D though which in the end I swapped back as I think Barclays would of taken my O/D off me!!
Hope you're having a good weekend anyhow!! Got to run as my parents are shouting at me as they want to start a filmDebt Free since 2012Current Savings £1,400Current Mortgage £143,398.270 -
Good Monday All!!
Right - well I have decided that I am going to apply for the A&L deal and transfer my DD's. They offer a 0% OD, so as long as they give me about £600 (min) I will stay within this easily and then I won't get any interest until my account is at £0 - every little helps (although interest this month is only £5.something!) I might sit and do that tonight.;)
Went over on the food budget this week. We didn't need a huge amount (as the freezer is full to brimming!) but we were low on things like toothpaste, soap etc. The total spend was £40 (was hoping to only spend £30) but, my OH is now onside with the shopping and we split the bill in half. No more arguing over who has bought the most food recently etc!! :rotfl:
My OH has said he doesn't need anything for his B-day and would like me to cook a big cooked breakfast this Sunday. I can do that!! And he's got his Jethro tickets - which he knows nothing about!! All is good - and I've got his card.... so thats ok!
I have the grand total of £6 in my purse and to make up for some extras I have to pay out (cheap pizza hut on Weds for OH birthday) I am going to try and not to use any more money out my OD.
Saying that, for some reason (also known as my OH smoking them!) I am low on the cigarette front and I haven't put any diesel in my car yet. The low fuel beep has only just happend, so I should have a good 65 miles left..... but I do about 20 a day going to and from work. So I am due to run out at work on Thursday!!! But, if I can make it last til then, then I will put some in on Thursday and count that as next weeks fuel!! (well it makes sense to me!) Just need to take OH's car when we go out on Weds!!
As for the cigarettes.... we'll see! lol
Other than that, not a lot to report!! Was very tempted to go out on Saturday night. A couple of my friends were going out drinking and dancing and I really wanted to go. But, as I was still feeling pretty poo (and my OH pointing out that Martin wouldn't approve!!) I stayed in!! Part of me felt down as I really should be able to go out when I want to..... but if I hadn't spent so much money in the past, then I would be able to, and I need to learn to say "NO" if I am going to get myself out of my current situation! When I am level again, I can afford to go out every week! (not that I would want to!!) On the upside (I 'spose) my closest friend is off to America in July to be an au pair for a year, so that will lower my desire and temptation to go out!!
Last night we used the offer vouchers for BK and had a burger, whilst watching a DVD a friend lent us - very DFW!!!
I dragged some chicken out the freezer this morning and I think we will have that with a sauce and rice tonight. And possibly watch The Devil Wears Prada that I recorded on the PS3 last night! (think I will use my DFW status to catch up on some films I am terrible at watching films!!)
Well, I think thats about it... Oh, paid £25 to my Abbey card today, so have updated my signature!
Well, thats all folks!!!! :Tstart = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225

Hey Nats,
I cannot find that form, but hey if they are offering £100 and transfering DDR's I'd do it, so good luck with that.
You are doing well and you have done very well for your OH's birthday you've been thoughtful and frugal:A what more could anyman want:p ... actually I thought of something else he might like, make him a voucher on your pc for something like a back massage or even half an hour of Nats loving;) :rotfl:
Anyway I hope all goes well

Thanks Rags and OBNW!!
I like the idea of a Nats voucher!!:D
I have decided that although short months are good for those paid monthly, short months are bad for me as there are less days between DDs going out!
