  • I have been a away from OS for a few days now and I have missed it so much! OH and I stayed over in Brighton on Friday in one of the cheap travelm lodge rooms, it was really good! We even got a free breakfast each as we discovered at 2 am that the cold tapin the basin did not work and all we had was boiling water! It was not too much fuss washing hand over the bath, though I did soak myself when I put the shower on by mistake :p I think I had possibly had one too many! :D Hee hee, well we had loads of fun but I am really paying for it now.

I have been well for such a long time that I really thought that I was getting to grips with my CFS but going away for a night and over doing it has totally wiped me out. I am meant to be working tomorrow and now I don't think I will be well enough

Kiwi - I really hope yr OH is ok, I think it is best to go to A and E and also speak to the police so that there are records of the injuries caused so that they can be used if he can claim injuries etc. It is better to do too much than not enough!
  • Hi All,

Been to church this morning, then left the children there for their Christmas party (its always held in January for some reason) and went for an enjoyable lunch with other couples from church who had also left their children at the party.
OH is outside cleaning the car, DD1 is roller skating and DD2 is changing into something warmer. I am going to change and then repot my strawberries and garlic plants as OH bought me some compost yesterday. (What a thoughtful pressie!)

I have been off work on strike for the last couple of days so have got stuck in to the paperwork and I have opened a new bank account, (want to change banks) and changed over our gas and electric suppliers, and changed over our house contents insurance too. Im quite pleased with all that! Must go on strike more often! (Only drawback is that I dont get paid, but what the heck!) Also made some fairy cakes yesterday, using a yoghurt cake recipe I got from here, but still have not gotten around to making chocolate crunch for DD.

Kiwi, I hope your OH is OK and not too shaken up, it sounds awful, I hope the old person is OK too, even though it was his fault he must be pretty shaken, it might make him think about whether to carry on driving?
Sympathies with all the potty trainers, I was lazy with my DD's and left them, I waited until DD1 was 3 1/2 and had her trained in a day, and was going to do the same with DD2 but she copied her sister when she was about 2 3/4 (thus saving me the job) and I can honestly say they have never had an accident on the furniture or in bed. It appears that I was just lucky, but I didnt bother with potties, they went straight onto the toilet with a booster cushion type thing, and I did leave DD1 quite late as I couldnt stand the idea of accidents etc, so she was obviously ready for it.
(I might have got off lightly with the potty training and also no sleepless nights as DD1 slept straight through when she was 4 weeks and DD2 was 6 weeks, both hardly ever woke in the night, they could both sleep for England. But believe me when I say I pay in other ways!)
Right better go and do something!

    Afternoon All,

DH back from A&E,they confirmed whiplash and told him to rest and take painkillers. Not the most helpful of advice but at least there is another official record of the accident for insurance purposes. He was interviewed by the police, ambulance and fire brigade so its been well documented.

In the hours waiting for him I've had made (with the help of 4 small people aged 10,3,2&1) a double batch of choc sponge muffins, a batch of peanut butter biscuits and a double batch of golden oat biscuits. Needless to say I am gaining rather than loosing weight at the moment :p .

Right, off now to watch a vid and enjoy another decaf coffee. Funny, but I've not suffered with the headaches as much going from normal to decaf  .

    Hope you are all well,
    Al.

Sorry for butting in, I Read this thread everyday but havent plucked up the courage to post on it yet (big wuuss!) :o You lot are an inspiration. I never baked a thing until I started reading all of the threds on OS. Now I'm never out of the kitchen and loving it! (so is OH and DS & DD!) My house is even tidier into the bargain!
Its lovely to read about other peoples days and what they are up to, you can almost imagine what people look like/houses are like etc..its almost like reading a good novel where you feel like you know the people personally.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration, maybe I will post here regularly, if thats ok.
Kiwichick - the baking sounds good - are all of those recipes on the index thread? they sound great - maybe I will have a go this afternoon!

Welcome Honey28!! :hello: This place is addictive isnt it!? A lot of recipe's are in the index thread and if you cant find what you want, you can always google for it or ask away, and if its good, tell us about it too! I must admit that I went baking crazy when I first joined here and now have so much kitchen equiptment its rediculous! :D

I went to morrisons today to get a weeks worth of food and came away having spent £65  when my target was £20ish, I ended up buying a muffin tray thingy, a couple of extra kitchen things like a spatula, scissors and slotted spoon, a large container for the cats food, and a vileda power moppy thing. I needed one without a bucket as i dont have the room for one - and this works really well, my floors are gleaming! ;) I also bought a few other fripperies as I was feeling in the mood for it, got some scented candles, some cleaning stuff, new sponges and cloths and the like, and stocked up on a few things on offer and some baking ingredients (caster sugar and lemons - im thinking lemon curd!). :D Didnt spend too much on food though as I did go through the cupboards (good tip Queenie!) and meal planned around it, and the extra food was bogof essentials like cod in parsley sauce boil in bag things and a few things for the boyf to make himself in the week.

Speaking of him  - I asked him to help me clean up today as I was sick of the mess (there wasnt much but I like it spick and span, like PP!) and he said ok, so there I am cleaning, he does nothing, I end up doing what I wanted him to do (the dishes - im hardly a slave driver!) then burn myself on the rads as I had turned them off and wasnt expecting them to be hot, but he had put them on when id opened the windows to air the place out!!     I shouted at him, he whinged about it being cold (funny I was roasting - if he did some goddam work for a change then maybe he wouldnt be permenantly cold) I shouted at him about the windows being open because im trying to clean the mess up, he said why should I have to wear my goddam coat indoors, so I screamed 'BECAUSE YOU DONT PAY THE BILLS!!!'. He shut his mouth anyway. Thank god he has gone to work as im so mad at him at the moment, but he has taken my car because his battery is flat (again). Ive been close to telling him to pack his bags recently :o . I think I will go with 'you get a job within the next two weeks or you move out'.

Anyway, im going to watch some uktv food as I need to have a foodie afternoon I think! :j Then Ill make bread and lemon curd and some minestrone soup for work.... :j Have a good evening all!

Smokey 112 - Your house sounds like mine. Footie on the telly all day today and yesterday! In fact its like that every weekend!!

Your weekend in Nairn sounds fab. I have not been there for ages but that was a possibility for later in the year. I can't get any school hols off work this year so we are not having a proper holiday just weekends away.

We went away a couple of times last year - Southerness and Seton Sands and like you took the brekkie gear, some booze and just got takeaways. All in all a very cheap and enjoyable time.

JW1096 - I know I shouldn't have laughed but your post was funny. My hubby thinks the heating should be on 24/7 and it drives me crazy. The times I have screamed at him that if he was doing something then he wouldn't be cold. Why are men so irritating!!
