    Hi,

I've also been using coconut oil on a regular basis, and it's great!

Recently, I've switched to the Jarrow brand from iHerb, which is just as good as the Coconoil stuff (organic and extra virgin) but much cheaper.

It comes in two sizes :

    454g (16oz) at £4.87 ($7.80) : Product code JRW-16033
    908g (32oz) at £8.97 ($14.37) : Product code JRW-16040

Even with shipping costs of £2.50 ($4), I still make savings on the Coconoil product.

As it comes from the US, expect shipping to take around 7 days. As long as you keep the order value below £18 (about $29), you won't incur any customs charges.

If you've never ordered from iHerb before, just drop me a Private Message, and I'll send you a code for $5 off your first purchase (I wouldn't want to come across as a spammer by posting it directly on the thread!)

    Cheers,

    Chris
  • Just to confirm that I've placed an order with the discount code Chris kindly sent me, got $5 discount :) Total cost including basic air mail = $13.37.

Gotta be good! Let's hope I don't smash this one!!

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for posting the information about the iHerb coconut oil. There is a Referrers Board on MSE on which people can post codes like the iHerb one you talked about above and there is already an iHerb thread on there for people to post their iHerb codes. You can add yours too it HERE.

    Regards

    Michelle

It might of been mentioned before,Tesco sell a 500ml jar of pure coconut oil for £1.49.
  • Would that be in the general oils section or in the cosmetics area?
Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend

I believe it won't be suitable if it's hydrogenated or fractionated. Got a link?

    I can't find a Search facility on Tesco's home shopping site :(

    Hi Veronarona,

I've found a link to the KTC Coconut Oil and it says it is refined so I don't think it would be suitable - at that low price you would have to expect it to be refined to be honest.

  • Thanks Michelle :) I've never read this whole thread but I have read quite a bit about coconut oil in the past - I think that refining changes the structure of the fats, ie they're no longer "medium chain fatty acids", so refined coconut oil is definitely not suitable for therapeutic ingestion (scuse my poncy words, I just have to type what pops into my head) but I can't remember if it makes much difference for skincare.

    Hi Veronarona,

Yes refining does change the structure of the fats and I'm sure it is not as good for your skin as virgin cold-pressed varieties as well as being unsuitable for ingesting. Have a look at This Article for an explanation. I wish we could find the best coconut oil for such a price but I'm always suspicious of anything that's so cheap despite being an MSEer! :D
