I just got some of the stuff from holland & barratt, it was the only stuff I could find locally and it seems fine.

They have everything on buy one get something else half price, so I got two tubs for about £18.
  • That will keep you going for a while :D I haven't started using mine in any therapeutic way :( Tonight I steamed some parsnips and fried them in coconut oil, I think I like it as a frying medium but it won't suit everything, given its distinctive flavour. The parsnips goldened up nicely.

The jar says "best to keep refrigerated", it makes it quite hard to dig out but that's OK.

Hi,it was with the ethnic food, the make is KTC Pure Coconut oil.the jar says 100%pure coconut oil,a product of Sri Lanka.

I got this aswell from an asian supermarket, £1.49 for 500ml to masage in my hair - apparently this is a really good way to use this product!

Hoping it will help mine as really dry...

  • Hello all, just reviving this thread as I wanted to find out users experiences since October - is iHerb the one to go with? Or cocovida?
    Many thanks

Just read this thread as I have only just heard about coconut oil and its benefits and knew MSE would have a great thread on it. As EagerLearner says, can anyone shed some more light on how they are getting on with the CO or are you all still using it? I am definitely keen on using it for cooking so I am trying to track down an organic virgin oil at a good price. At least I know to avoid H&B thanks to this thread. Any updates would be great.

I'm interested in trying this as a hair conditioner but no idea how to use it! I have very dry hair and yet to find any conditioner that really works. Any tips welcome.

I melt a little (on my hands, it melts at body temperature) and rub it through my hair about half an hour before shampooing.

    Hi Madmix,

I'm new to forum and I've just seen your thread about coconut oil. You mention you use to buy from Coconoil but now iherb, can you tell me if you notice any difference? For example Coconoil says it is cold compressed, whereas iherb is expeller-pressed, i read that cold compressed is the same as expeller-pressed but expeller-pressed doesn't mean it's cold compressed. I want to use it to treat my son's eczema. Btw has anyone used virgin coconut oil to treat eczema?

Also, it be great if you could PM me a code for iherb as i'd like to give it a try anyway.

This one seems a good price and has a thread on the freebies low spend board and people were happy with the quality of products. Explains a bit about what cold pressed is as well in the info bit.

The price on that link is the same as on the coconoil site. I buy when it is on special from coconoil and stock up.

I get through a pot every week to 10 days. i use it to fry in, cook with, on top of veggies instead of butter.

I have some in my coffee every day. I use it direct on my skin and scalp and it has really helped with the excema/ dermatitis.

Even the dog gets a little every day and his coat is lovely!
