You put me to shame, Serena, mine's forgotten until, maybe, I go to fry some onions for a curry and think "Ah, I can lose coconut flavour in that".

As I drink so much coffee since I went from roll-ups to e-cigs, I'm going to make an effort to put coconut oil in it.

Did I see somewhere it will melt belly fat? What's stopping me then?:rotfl:

Hi, I was wondering about the ktc pure coconut oil also as its so cheap so I decided to contact the company to ask. Here is what they replied.

("Thank you for contacting KTC (Edibles) Limited. KTC Coconut Oil is 100% pure refined coconut oil. It contains no additives and is not hydrogenated at any stage of production. Consequently, the oil contains only those trans fats bestowed by nature. Coconut oil naturally contains less trans fats than any other vegetable, animal or marine oils; about 0.1% (compared with 0.7% in rapeseed or sunflower oil or 1.0% in soyabean or palm oil). Should you require any further details, I shall be pleased to assist. Kind regards and thank you for your interest, Graham Booth Technical Director KTC (Edibles) Limited" )

So i have decided I am going to use this for cooking as well as skin and hair, as it is the medium chain fatty acids that have the unique health benefits and they are unchanged being refined or not....I am sure the vitamins will be somewhat lessened in in refined coconut oil but I figure I can get those from my diet elsewhere. It also doesn't smell or taste 'coconutty' which is what the refining process does, so is ideal for general cooking and at high temperatures when you dont want any actual coconut flavour. I hope I have managed to help anyone else that was wondering about the quality of this oil.:)

You are a star, Marie :T

Brilliant info - I find the unrefined quite OK for curries but too coconutty for many things so I don't use it nearly enough.

    Thank you very much!

Oh by the way - coconut oil is a super sizzly frying medium - in case I didn't mention that before, which I'm sure I did :D

Just found this thread. I was asking about coconut oil on another thread and someone said I should do a search. Am I right in thinking that the cold pressed virgin oil is best for digesting and cooking etc. But I wil be fine to use the other (cheaper ones) as a moisturiser for my skin. I have been advised to get some for my very dry skin.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....

The beauty of coconut oil is that it can be used for so many things! I have a large pot that I'm slowly working my way through. I use to it do a little cooking as well as using it on my skin. It cleared my eczema right up, so I started using it as a leave-in conditioner for my hair, which is now lovely, shiny and soft.
