Does anyone know if consuming coconut milk (the canned variety) has the same health benefits as coconut oil? I'm wondering if the manner in which it is produced damages the good fats in any way?

I heard that depending on where the coconut oil was produced it can have very different flavours. Apparently the stuff from the Phillipines is tastiest, but I haven't tried so can't comment. I've just ordered some off myprotein.co.uk but it doesn't say where its sourced from, reviews are good though - £8.95 for 460ml, you can get 5% off if you enter MP75549 at checkout.

My very thoughts. I go thru phases of consuming a lot of it when I'm in my "quick Thai curry" period ;) It would need to be the equivalent of cold pressed, I think. I'm preoccupied with something else at the mo but will try to restart investigations eventually, in the meantime - all contributions welcome.

What benefits have those who have been taking coconut oil internally found?
Has anyone lost weight with it yet?
    xx
I have realised I will never play the Dane! :(

Where are my medals? Everyone else on here has medals!! :p

I picked up a can of coconut milk in Sainsbury's today and by the looks of the ingredients list there's quite a lot of other crap in there besides coconut! Full of thickeners and preservatives. This was one of the cheaper brands that i've never heard of though.

I think you'll find coconoil.co.uk are cheaper, they sell virgin coconut oil and I take it 1 tabs in warm water 20mins before a meal 3 times a day. It has cleared up dermatitis that I've had for 40 years and given my dry skin a complete new lease of life!

I low carb and the coconut oil is meant to help boost your metabolism, there is lots of info further back on this thread or posted in various places by the very helpful Ted Hutchinson, who has now been banned apparently.

Apparently Ted's views on the swine flu vaccinations are the cause of his being banned from this board,

Thai people use coconut in a whole host of cooking dishes. Have you ever seen a Thai with bad skin? Ever wonder why their skin is so clear? hmmm could it be the coconut content! I think so!

On a separate note, I think the board made a mistake banning Ted Hutchinson from here.

    Ted has been banned? Why?

    Hey everyone,
Thanks for the info in this thread. It's made interesting reading and I've just ordered some of the Organic Virgin Coconoil from the website that Serena51 had given (Thanks :D) - Gotta love payday too ;)

Am interested in seeing what it'll do for my skin, and if it'll help IBS as many people say. I suffer from it occasionaly and have found that a Low Sugar diet can help wonders, so will see if adding this into the mix will help too.

    Thanks again :D

Not sure about that, coconoil.co.uk is £10.99 for the same size tub, MyProtein.co.uk is £8.95 for organic virgin oil.
