Lalaladybird - I do love your username. It is obviously upsetting you, having your dear heart be so silly. I suggest you tell him that he is upsetting you and that positive reinforcement (wow, well done) works better than negative reinforcement. On a serious note, a child growing up note hearing praise can be badly affected which I know from personal experience. However, this irritating habit of your dear heart must be hard to deal with, so I suggest that after you have explained that he is upsetting you (because he must know how hard you are trying) is to say that every time he complains you are going to fine him. So next time he asks where the money is going you will say, 'That's a fine, I'm going to get a magazine.' and each time he mentions it, 'That's a fine, I'm going to get a magazine/makeup/bubble bath/chocolate/book/item for hobby'. You are working so hard towards your goal, perhaps you can save up coupons etc for treats to bring out at a psychological moment.
Hugs to all - so many but thinking of Taplady, candygirl and Penny Pincher. Also Treacle.
Hester - a degree is one of the smallest units of measurement. Good luck!
Nothing OS to report - but tonight I am having chilli con charlie with baked potatoes and I am going to be enjoying the fruits of my breadmaker for lunch.
Off to doctors soon so I had better go and get myself and little bear looking almost respectable. Very nervous.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Morning all
Some spicy carrot, red lentil and tom soup in the SC as we were cleaned out over the week-end. BM on and more bedding on the line.
Still have a pile of ironing to do, hardly made a dent in the pile last night, I have been feeling so tired.
Must make a list of what to get every-one for Xmas and start looking in the sales.
DB2 has the op to remove a virilant Melanoma mole today (1 of over 3 doz) the apointment was moved from Mon to today. Apparently it has a Satalite streak, that's not a good diagnosis.
STEFEJB, Thinking of you and hope all will be ok for DD

PP Nice to see you home. How sad to be in the same ward as children. Over here they have separate wards, well even separate hospitals for kids that have cancer.
Ahem, cough, cough! We do have the famous Great Ormond Street children's Hospital you know, known as GOSH for short;)It offers the leading cancer care for children in the whole of Europe. Seriously though they will be receiving a strong letter from me today. To hear of a 5 year old with a rare cancer being treated on a mixed age unit, just makes me  The whole point of GOSH is that it is as unlike hospital as possible ( as are the many excellent children's wards in other hospitals) They will certainly be informed my regular donation is about to cease if they are not caring for children like Ellie, but leaving them to other London hospitals.
Aside from that, bet you're glad to be home PP. Hope you are better soon.
Now to OS:D I made a batch of Aussie's gingernuts yesterday, and can confirm they are really good, better than shop ones;) And then in the evening I made catznine's Nasi Goreng which was gorgeous.:D Thanks girls:T
It's lovely and bright today, but with a cold nip in the air. Still it cheers us up no end to see some sun.
stefeb, fingers crossed for DD at the hospital. My DGS had speech therapy, it was brilliant! Now he speaks really clearly. ( and better than a lot whose speech wasn't bad enough to need therapy:rotfl: )
charlies mum, just give thanks there's half a world between us and Aussie after all that cabbage;)
Off to make a coffee, then start on some lovely housework:rolleyes:
taplady, in my thoughts and prayers.

Morning Guys!
Slept well last night. Nurse has been here and will be back after lunch. Have a friend popping in for coffee in a little while which will be nice.
OH has tidied through and cleaned the loo. He has made a spagbol for later.
Churchmouse-I totally agree that Ellie should of been at a children's hospital but they wanted their nearest hospital so that she didn't need to travel far.
I'm off to have a sleep.
Have a good day everyone.

Good to hear from you, PenPin. Have a great day!
Taplady - (((hugs))) to you for losing a good friend.
Laladybird - I can only echo what others have said on here. Keep a record of what you have achieved - and it IS a huge achievement - and ask him if he can match it. Make sure he realises that, in the long run, you will save thousands of pounds. If you fancy a magazine or other little treat, you deserve it.
Well, ALL my xchores are done and I'm feeling very smug and virtuous - can you see my halo? I'm now off for a walk in the crunchy autumn leaves and will call into the local charity shop on my way back. It's a beautiful day here - I hope everyone else has the same good weather.

Oh dear! That will teach me to find out all the facts before I let rip, I'll have to apologise:oI don't understand the parents though, refusing GOSH for, where were you, Guys? I'd have much preferred the expertise available at GOSH if it was my child. I'm surprised the Doctor's weren't more insistent, it's not that far away from the other London hospitals, but I can understand her parents may not be thinking straight. You really feel for them, it must just devastate you to cope with that sick a child.

Is he ready for weaning / more food / slight change in routine? I remember mine used to start waking when they were hungrier.
I would have said the same, except he's 18 months old! Must stop saying baby, prob a bit misleading - better call him a toddler seeing as he's talking/walking/getting into bother/having tantrums!! He's just got over chickenpox, & now I think his back molars are giving him jip. Since his spots went, he's been apparently starving& has eaten loads - he has a moderate appetite normally. Today he ate 1 weetabix & 1/2 banana at 7.30, just had about 1/4 lb cheese in cubes, & a drink of milk, & I'm sure he'll eat something on toast for lunch soon! He's currently crawling under the table & under my feet, having covered himself in mini post-it notes!?!
Off to stick clothes in TD, feed little 'un & go to see dad with sister.
Dismal weather here, as well as feeling a bit down 'cos of dad, so have treated self to CHOCOLATE as part of my healthy balanced lunch! :rotfl:
See you all later.

Ah, maybe he's had enough sleep & is ready to cut down naps during the day (sounds like he's very active anyway!)
Then again, if one of mine was awake at 6am now, I'd know they were either just coming home or leaving to go away somewhere - they're both in their 20's, so its a long time since they were that age!
I did ask yesterday, but will ask again, who recently posted the recipe for tomato chutney? I picked up 2kg of y/s red & yellow cherry toms in Mr T's yesterday to make chutney for Chrimbo pressies, and now can't find the recipe!0
