OS Daily Wed 19th Nov 08

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wed 19th of November. It is is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning. Once again I woke up at stupid o clock. I seem to wake up at this time and the moment I do, my mind starts up and there is no way I could ever go back to sleep. Just as well I have a computer.

Work later.

Went Christmas shopping yesterday. I was disapointed to find that there are very few sales and not much on offer. If the shops want to sell things then they had better start reducing the price. Got some things anyway. Walked away from other stuff that I should have bought. Thought I would get it on line.... most places seem to have sold out. Got some of the christmas movies I was looking for. Woolies is much cheaper than Amazon.
OH bought some perfume in Debs. Cheaper than duty free. The sales lady also gave us a handfull of samples. They will make great stocking fillers for the girls and cost nothing.

Got a new printer scanner for me too. Currys had a great offer on an Epson. It was better spec than any of the others and was £39. Not bad. My old one had died.

Well folks have a nice day

Hi N9eav - I thought it was only us girls whose minds kept us awake! Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight to make up for your early start! My Christmas shopping is almost done and I'm feeling very smug. I even have most of the cards written out and some presents wrapped, too.

I have the day off today and an awful lot to get done, too, starting with changing the sheets and cleaning upstairs.

Dinner is beef stew in the Remoska and I may make DH a rice pudding.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Welcome back to PenPin - hope you are feeling good today!

    (((Hugs))) to all.

  • Morning N9eav & all who cross/follow
I'm off to work soon, we have a staff member who has upset a lot of people so she's being sent into my department today, oh joy, I expect she'll phone in sick as she thinks she's too important to work with me. If not fur will fly, cos the next time she says 'I have a degree' I shall tell her to stick it where the sun don't shine.
Lovely to hear from you PP, hope you feel better soon. Hugs to everyone in need.
I'm expecting a phone call from MIL over the weekend, when she asks how we are I shall be tempted to tell he we'd be better if BIL2 would pay hubby. I know it's nothing to do with her, but she might be able to give him a nudge.
I hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

No rain today but the humidity is back. More storms must be brewing. Tired atm. Woke up around midnight again and didn't drop until around 4am. Made some bread this morning and some refrigerator coleslaw from More from Less cookwork. I'm still on the cabbage theme. ;)

DGS arrived after lunch and been playing with him most of the time. Fish & Oven chips with salad for tea. I haven't done a great deal of christmas shopping as yet. I haven't managed to get to the mainland for a while. Maybe next week.

PP Nice to see you home. How sad to be in the same ward as children. Over here they have separate wards, well even separate hospitals for kids that have cancer.
Ruby Could you please come and do my garden now? :D
Moiliere Funny how our day off is the hardest day we work.
Taplady Thanks for the recipe & hope Lesley is comfortable.

Well I suppose I better go and make DH pack up and sort tea out. DGS has pulled out every toy in the toy box (sigh) while I"ve been on the computer. When it's time to put away he says in a sweet voice *help me Ninny*. :D Hope you all have a lovely day & <hugs> to those not well. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Morning all

Just waiting for it to get light so I can take Charlie out, so having a cup of tea and catching up on here

Think I have finished Christmas shopping, I have been buying things through the year, and have picked up lots of bargains off the Grabbit board, so won't have to hit the shops :j

Work today, so think I will copy Redruby and take some soup to work (mine won't be homemade though) Dinner will be a chilli , will brown the mince before work, and then put into the remoska with a mix, and set the timer.

Aussie, you be careful eating all that cabbage, it might have an unfortunate effect :D

Have a good day everyone x

  • Good Morning All,

I woke up at about 3.30am and now I just want to go back to bed!

I've already made some bread, done two loads of washing and got turkey soup started.

I've got five mystery shops to do today, and I'd like to clear out under the stairs, but not a lot else planned other than an early night, lol!

I hope you all have a great day
I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead
  • Good Morning All

PP - Bet you are glad to be home, hope you feel better asap.

Had a bad nights sleep - lots of tossing and turning. Will have to have an early one tonight.

Tai Chi this morning might have to change classes soon though, this one is for 2 hours and its a bit too long for me, think there is a better one on a friday - will look into that. Will go into town early treat myself to a lovely mocha coffee and possible something for lunch from M&S. Also must remember to get a key cut for oh.

This afternoon will be spent ironing as I didnt do any yesterday. Just about to quickly iron DD's school shirt then will make packed lunches and clean the kitchen - OH has been doing it lately but worked last night.

No replies yesterday re onion marmalde so will try a new thread later.

A cheap but not healthy fry up for dinner tonight.

    Have a great day.

  • Good morning everyone  I'm off on a two-day training course, so not much OSing for me. The yogurt maker and bread maker are both on, and I've taken HM bean burgers and rolls from the freezer for supper.

DD got in very late last night (Scouting for Girls concert). She saw Kanye West at the weekend, so is now in great need of sleep   I'm a bit tired after waiting up, too :o

    Taplady - hugs for you

Pen pin - bet you're glad to be home

    Have a great day, everyone!

    Morning all

impromptu morning off here - dd(19) is going to the hospital for an emergency scan. Things are not looking brilliant - she is still bleeding and so will need to check if the pregnancy is still viable - a previous scan was inconclusive. I have had dgs(3) over night so i can take him to school this morning. We went to his parents evening last night and he is being referred for speech therapy - all in all poor dd is pretty low

fixed up my christmas leave yesterday - I'm doing Crisis again as youngest is at her dad's. I offered 7 days for them to choose the maximum of 5 from like they normally do and they gave me the full 7! A bit of a rejig of the rota means that my boss has managed to give me all the time I need. Just need to find somewhere to stay now. Volunteering over christmas is brilliant for bah humbugs like me so I definitely reccomend it to anyone who's going to be on their own this year.

PP - take it easy hon - lovely to see you back safe :)
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008
