Well at least you have admitted you work(ed?) for them but your post is still a bit spammy IMHO.

    Cheers

  • £11k, but for what sized property? Detatched?

Sorry for the belated update: I've been a bit manic at work....

We cancelled: Andura Guard let me pull out reasonably easilly (tried to assure me that they'd get "their factory in Bicester" to write a covering letter to guarantee their work)... which they did, but by then I was fed up with these claims of being part of the same company or in any way affiliated: Just remember Andura Coatings (with their BBA certified range of *something*-Gard range of products) are separate to "Andura Guard" who are are actually "Weatherex T/A Andura Guard", but just renamed to make it look like they are part of the Andura group: this is not a link that Andura Coatings acknowledge.

There's a big difference between paying a slight premium for long-running BBA accredited, "name" company (Andura) to install the product and paying the same premium to what is effectively just one of their customers who is going to install the product - especially given the one company's patchy record of renames, watchdog investigations and some clearly pretty underhand salesmen who were/are under their employ.

In their favour: despite some inconsistent and slightly iffy sales patter, I was not strongarmed into signing up*, they only ever visited when both my wife and I were present, although they offered a Barlays loan - it was in no way mandatory, the price was comparable to other builder's quotes and when I stated that I was pulling out as per the doorstep sales act: i.e. within the first 7 days and before any work had been started, they offered no objections.

*I probably would have stuck with Andura Guard if it hadn't been for the saleman's repetiion of "this is a legal contract, you can't just cancel after I leave", despite it being very, very clearly stated on the paper that I could.

Overall, my experience of Andura Guard hasn't been awful, but I did cancel, so no actual experience of their product and there were enough untrue claims of grandure and enough of a hint of the sales patter that I could recognise they hadn't changed that much since the Watchdog investigations: which just left me in a position of not trusting most of the rest of the stuff they said.

Where there's smoke there's normally fire.... or at least somebody getting stoned :rotfl:
  • now having worked for said company for several years

Is that working for Andura Guard (the company we are discussing that has only been around for about 2 years*)....
there [sic] products are exactly what they say they are, £££££££s has gone into research for paints and products they use and have all been tested by relevant authorities

...or do you work for Andura Coatings Ltd (who do all the research and hold all the accreditation)?

If it is Andura Guard (i.e. Weatherex), then presumably you were working for them when they were trading as Weatherex, Pearl, Mosaic, etc or under any of the other company names before the most recent of their renames?

*As best I could find (so NOT to be taken as gospel): Andura Coatings Ltd have been running for 40-odd years, hold various BBA confirmed accreditations and have no history of dubious trading and will acknowledge no direct link to Andura Guard, but the company currently known as Andura Guard only started around 13-15 years ago (as an earlier incarnation) and after several renames, the "Andura Guard" name only started around 2009, as per Watchdog references to 2006 (google "Andua Guard watchdog"), it was trading under a different name then - which does really undermine the sales patter with claims of the company's longevity in the industry and the research that is done: happy to see if anybody else dug up any more independently verifyable information and I'll happilly amend the above statement!!
  • This company are cold calling in Pinner, Eastcote and Northwood Hills this evening. I was shown an ID card with the callers picture on it showing he really was an official representative of the company.

It went like this, "We're in the area and just wanted to let you know that Inspectors will be calling to give you a free survey on the outside of your home. We're doing this to see how well your building has stood up to the test of time as it was built around the time of the war. Would you like a daytime or evening appointment?"

I was then plugged for details and asked if there was any leaflet I could read. He handed me a yellow A5 card 'Entitlement Voucher'. It's a meaningless document and I've now passed this onto the local Safer Neighbourhood Team of the Police. My concern is that many older people live in this area and will believe this to be an "Official" visit from an "Authorised Inspector". They are not and are simply a private company using bluff and jargon to doorstep sell. Looking back in the forums it would appear that their salesmen who later follow up leads are very persistent and less likely to take no for an answer.

Having thanked the chap for the leaflet I declined and he asked for his leaflet back too! Cheeky begger - the Police will need that. (There are loads of reports in the web of this company and its hard sell, all over the UK using this cold calling introduction.)

Just for information the bottom of the leaflet has some company details which I will put here for you:

    Apex Direct Promotions Ltd
    Sunley House, 57 - 67 High Street, Edgware, HA8 7DD
    Freephone 0800 282 723

"This promotion is provided by Apex Direct Promotions Ltd for the Andura Licensed Service Provider Programme."

Be careful and check people out before allowing them into your home.

    Keep safe
  • Has anyone out there got a good word to say about andura guard.
  • I had the sales guy come over for 2.5 hours. He told me it would cost me over £30k, but if I agreed immediately to have the work done, it would cost £21k. He told me that my house had considerable issues and the whole house would need doing. I didn't sleep that night and was very worried.

Today, I called a builder round from "Checkatrade". They were brilliant and said that whilst there were some minor areas that could be dealt with, there was no immediate cause for concern. They advised that I have the work done in a couple of years time. They told me that a ball park figure for the work would be around £5,500. Much more reasonable and I have time to budget for it too.

My advice is that the sales guys are telling you that your house is in state of disrepair for one reason only and that is to get you to sign up for as much money as possible when it is, perhaps, not in such a bad state at all. If the deal is that great and they want your business, they will negotiate down a long way. Get independent builders over to tell you whether you do really need the work done. Chances are that it won't need doing at all.

I live in Sydenham in South East London. A guy from Apex did call this afternoon and said they would call to make an appointment to do an external survey of our house. Same chat as others have reported. I did give them our phone number but if they phone I'll obviously say no thank you that we've changed our mind and put the phone down.

Thanks to all contributors to this thread. You have saved us a lot of hassle.
  • This crew have just turned up in Weston-super-Mare cold-calling. Having read all the information on forums about them, it looks like it's the start of some very pushy sales tactics.
