Well done Pilchard that is great news. I was just saying to my husband yest that I used to dread the post, but now I really look forward to it. What with competition entries, mystery shopping money, freebies, and other refund cheques from companies, the post is now fun, instead of just bills bills and late payment / overdraft charges ( a thing of the past!).:j :j :j

:) Have to agree here....Emily - you've definitely inspired lots of people to start the mysetery shopping/competitions/AQA! I tried to sign up to AQA to find that there were no more positions for Britain! They've all been snaffled by DFW's!! :)

    Missed that post...

I've got until 15th August but as I've applied for a part time job at school I'll wait until next week to register as things may change.

Not holding my breath though, over 80 applicants at last count....

Hi Emily - you're doing fab, v envious of your positive outlook and energy.

On the subject of self-employment, I have just signed up with AQA and have been doing bits and bobs of mystery shopping. I am going to sign up with the tax office, but do you know how much tax you pay on your earnings? Do you put this aside into a separate account ready for the end of the financial year, or can you pay as you go on?

If you are looking for another mystery shopping company to sign up to, try First Tracking. There isn't any mystery to it though, it is an open audit of the adverts and trailers before a film, sometimes there is a Point of sale check to do as well.

The company are looking for people to do checks this weekend and next weekend, if you click here http://www.firstmovies.com/FirstTrac...ssignments.php you can see all remaining assignments, if there is something in your area you would like to do, join up here http://www.firstmovies.com/FirstTracking/Signup.php

I am not sure what the pay is, but it is more if you have to do a POS check.

I'm sure I'm being thick, but do you get to watch the films aswell or do you just get to watch the trailers and then have to leave?

    Hi everyone

Haven't been around much recently, feeling a bit poorly again. Got a bad ear infection, sore throat and just feel generally crappy. Going to see my doctor tomorrow so hoping he can get me back on my feet again.

I was a bit down yesterday, I was watching my local news and they had a story on there about 2 people with Cystic Fibrosis who had died whilst waiting for a heart and lung transplant. One was only 19 and the other was 31. I know they need to highlight the problems with CF and therefore you see these kind of stories around all the time but it just isn't very pleasant for someone with the same illness to watch.

However, stories like that always make me a little more determined to clear my debts more quickly. After all, life is too short to be worrying about money and whether you can afford this or can't afford that.

So I have made a vow to work myself into the ground for the next year (but I will still remember my health, don't worry  ) and then hopefully this time next year I will be able to stop worrying about money all of the time and concentrate on living my life the way I should be.

On the debt side of things, I have been working really hard on AQA over the past few days, I have got 3 more mystery shops lined up and some little prizes are coming my way soon so that I can sell them on Ebay.

I haven't paid anymore off my Barclaycard yet, I will do before the end of the week though.

I also joined a new bingo site last night through Greasypalm. They gave me £8.75 cashback for making a £10 deposit. I then got £10 free from the bingo site and waited until I got to £25 in my account (some of the games were really easy to win as there weren't many players) and then withdrew it. Therefore I am now £23.75 richer for about an hours work!! I've got nearly £50 waiting in my Greasypalm account so I can pay that off my next target debt for August as it won't come through until then.

I'm also trying out a new business idea but I will post more on that when and if it gets off the ground. ;)

Anyway, I think that's about it for now.

    Take care everyone

    Hello Emily

    how has your weekend been?

I just read that bit about the 19 year old CF suffer and that got me down a bit reason is that on Sunday night after a great day out in Poole my girlfriend started coughing up blood, so we took her to Poole A & E and she was seen to straight away (she felt bad because she went ahead of other people.)

Anyway one of the nurses rang her specialist at 12:30 am :D but he said that she had to stay in overnight so shegot pretty down about that. We eventually got her into a cubicle at 2:30 am. I stayed with her but she had a really disturbed night she couldnt sleep much unfortunately. The Specialist came round at 7:30am and said she had to stay until wednesday. thankfully she stopped coughing up blood and was let out on wednesday so she is now back home and we are hoping she will be better for our trip up to Scotland in 2 weeks :o

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get you down too. I think you are so nice and supportive to your girlfriend, she is very lucky to have you. A lot of people wouldn't be able to cope in your situation but you seem to be doing so well.

I hope your girlfriend feels better soon, I know how scary coughing up blood can be but it is better out than in. I hope you have a lovely time in Scotland.

Sorry you are not feeling too well.

I always find that a drop of lavender on cotton wool is soothing for earache and that gargling with tea-tree oil is good for throat infections. It might even help the ear too what with throats/ears being connected.

1 drop of pure essential tea-tree in half a glass of water. stir to disperse the oil and gargle. Doesn't taste brilliant but its better than TCP!!! The book says put a drop of geranium oil in too but that is repulsive.

Make sure that you aren't allergic to tea-tree oil first and only use pure oil. (Do a test patch on your skin using essential oil in a drop of carrier oil such as olive)
Gargle at the first sign of a cold or when one is going around work and you might even manage to stop it developing.

Hope you're back to your old self soon

Hi Pilchard, when I registered I called 08459 15 45 15. Visit http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/cwf1.pdf to find a form to send off but to be honest it was really easy to register over the phone. She asked for my PAYE number and my National Insurance number when I called so keep these handy.

Hi there, hope everyone's having a good weekend? Emily, hope you're feeling better? Just wanted to let anyone who is a bit unsure about mystery shopping and the taxman  know that I registered using the number above the other day. It was dead easy and took less than 5 minutes. I spoke to a very nice taxman (yep, they exist) who even offered me a place on a workshop to help me through the tax maze, but it's mainly for people who are expecting to earn over £4k.

    Thanks for the information Emily
